Discussion: Report: Clinton Camp Seeks To Stop Ads That Claim She's Under FBI Investigation

About time, HRC needs to push back hard on this, not just for her election, but for the battles to come.

The GOP needs to stop lying about everything they do.

That’ll never happen.

Years ago I was an interview with Bill Clinton and he said he asked a prominent Republican “Why do you guys always lie? Why do you fight so dirty?”

The man replied, bluntly, “It’s the only way we can win.”

The future 45 ad should drive millions to the polls in the purple state of DC where I live.

Trump: In my reality, Clinton is under investigation while she is in jail.

Just think where they must perceive themselves to see this necessary.

Does anyone know if this is working? Have you seen ads today that still say she’s under investigation?

Glad the election will be over, but looking forward to next 8 years.

Pray the Senate goes to the Democrats. If it does, Clinton should get all of the Senate and House leaders together and tell them that they get one chance to ‘play nice’. No repeat of Obama’s ‘mistake’ of believing that bipartisanship will prevail. We see where that got him and us.The GOP interpreted it as weakness and shat all over everything that he did.

If the GOP wants to use their House committees as a cudgel to persecute Clinton? Well… use the investigatory powers of the US Senate to clean up the other side of the isle. We might as well get the battle over who wins done ASAP rather than submit to death by a thousand cuts.

Me, too. I’m sure we’re all looking forward to tomorrow, when the first Republican declares his candidacy for 2020.

Would that we had laws like those in the UK or Canada that restrict campaigning to a few weeks…

Yes, a very good move. Note that the cease-and-desist letters are to the broadcasters. A cease-and-desist letter is a preliminary to filing a lawsuit. For a public figure (like Hillary) to successfully sue a media outlet, the standard is “actual malice”, which includes publishing/broadcasting something that is “knowingly false”. By informing the broadcasters through the cease-and-desist letters that the material is “provably false” the campaign is establishing “actual malice”. I imagine there are emergency meetings of the broadcasters’ attorneys as we speak.

Trump: I actually endorse her for POTUS, she is just too good:

If the announcement comes tomorrow, I predict it will be Ted Cruz.

Regardless, anyone so socially inept to do so, particularly at a time when our wounds are so raw from the past 18 months, can eat a bowl of hot fuck.

They were still running last night.

Doesn’t matter much now. Clearly nobody should get to use the public bandwidths to tell outright lies. Unfortunately we don’t any longer share “facts” across party lines.

I think at least one wing of the democratic/progressive coalition should try a pitying approach. Not “That’s a lie, buster, put up your dukes!” but rather “Why does it make you feel good to believe all those lies? How can we help you not be crazy?” Because trolling and outrage are what make so many wingnuts feel good. If they think they’re being piitied, it will get under their skin and weaken them.

Of course, this should be in concert with some quiet but effective stomping and ref-working.

And that stop all political advertising 24 hrs before the election.
It’s been especially brutal here in Florida .
The Trashing of Patrick Murphy by the Rubio pac has been incessant since dick wad Rubio rescinded his pledge not to run .Up to 10 an hour sometimes back to back .
I hate Rubio with incandescent rage
Please make it stop.

Why does the EV count for HRC keep going down on the TPM Election Scorecard? It’s giving me a fucking ulcer.
