The Prince is obviously a stable genius! Who else would come up with such a spectacular plan that leaves no connections or traces back!
In all seriousness I do wonder at the thought process. Did they really think this was a great plan and no one would notice? Or was it more I’m the Prince and I’m rich and no one will dare to question what I do?!
What I really want are those Whats App communications (between the Prince and Jared) because those are all stored on the server somewhere and never deleted.
Jared?
What is Erdogan’s endgame here? He’s not a justice and decency guy. Turkey has a bad relationship w Russia, a frayed relationship w Trump (more frayed by the minute) and it’s too late to get the shit back in the horse w Saudi Arabia.
Erdogan doesn’t seem the sort to go up in a flame of righteous incandescence; he’s built more to outlast his enemies. I’ll love it if he nails all of these fuckers, but something doesn’t add up.
We should be pushing for regime change. Saudi Arabia is the main reason for jihadi terrorism and instability in the Middle East.
I was thinking along the same lines but I don’t know enough about Turkey’s relationship with Saudi. Fear is a big motivator so perhaps it’s something along those lines but fear of what I’m not sure. Or maybe it’s some sort of power play…time will tell.
This “punishment” mentality is part of the problem. We need to stop confusing smug for tough, and do an honest assessment why, apart from who or what their money can buy, should we want the Saudis’ friendship at all? They share many of Republicans’ most reprehensible qualities, such as bigotry, misogyny, galling entitlement and a dangerous propensity to misuse religion as a weapon for maintaining power. Someone remind me the pluses again?
Four calls were made from the Cosulate the day the journalist was murdered - one being to the United States???
Wrong number, obviously.
There are rivalries. For example, in the dispute between Qatar and the Saudis, where Qatar nowadays wants out from under the Saudis, and where Qatar supported the “Arab Spring” and the Saudis opposed it, and where … wait for it … the Saudis are accusing Qatar of “exporting terrorism,” Turkey is on Qatar’s side.
Nor is Erdogan going out on a limb politically: The Saudi regime is deeply unpopular in Turkey. While Erdogan is happy to ride rough-shod over the rights of his own people, it is politically convenient, perhaps even helpful, for him to keep humiliating the Saudis — or to gain and use whatever leverage he can against them.
I hear that Cambridge Analytica does a bang-up job in that department.
There’s also some Russian entity in St. Petersburg that could show you its portfolio.
Wrong number, obviously.
And definitely not to Prince Jared…
Prince Jared bin Charles, of the House of Kushner.
Show some respect.
No, four calls from the Consulate to MbS’s offices, and one call from the Consulate to the United States. I’m going to state the obvious now: that call to the US is a potential bombshell. If it went to Jared, or Fat Nixon, or Pompeo that bomb is going to explode.
Would be good if the beneficiaries of the arms deal (Raytheon, et al) stepped up & and yanked Trumps “jobs over murder” defense by demanding the truth, and screw the arms deal.
Yeah…when pigs fly.
The round of phone call excuses is going to be great. The hit squad was RSVPimg for the annual Riyadh Kiwanis barbecue! And as that happened, it occurred to MbS to check if Jared Kushner had any dietary restrictions, but he was driving and so asked his hit squad to check in his behalf!
I’m beginning to wonder if Kashoggi had some very specific information on the Prince that the Prince really didn’t want released.
CIA already has them.
Turkey and Saudi Arabia are rivals for leadership in the region. History matters, especially in the Middle East. Remember that Saudi Arabia came into existence by rebelling against (Turkish) Ottoman rule…
Don’t forget that part of the Saudis’ plan was to have Khashoggi “disappearance” be blamed on Turkey. They didn’t count on his fiance waiting outside.
So Turkey has extra incentive.
