Discussion: Report: Boehner Called Ryan To Ask Him To Run For Speaker

Discussion for article #241575

"All right now it’s time you put on your big boy pants and show them that you’re just not a bunch of hot air. That you can put in practice all those brilliant ideas you go on about nonstop . "

“But I ran a sub three hour marathon!”

“a budget wonk who chairs the House Ways and Means Committee”

Jesus Christ! You too?

He is a budget wonk like an 8th grade social studies teacher is a career diplomat.

Wake the fuck up.

It would literally be the worst career move he ever made. He might as well be throwing himself on the pyre. Nobody with a brain in their head wants to be the next human sacrifice to the Teatrolls’ insanity. I’m surprised the phone conversations were reported as long. If I were Ryan it would’ve been short and to the point:

“I wouldn’t fuck that with YOUR dick.” CLICK…

Policy wonk whose numbers never add up without the magic “dynamic scoring”. I’ve seen him asked about his numbers and he’ll say it’s really complicated and he doesn’t have time to explain.

Seriously. I wish TPM would stop adopting the lazy phraseology of propaganda that gives total meatballs like Plutocrat Pauly false legitimacy. His ideology, policy proposals and ulterior motives are bullshit, batshit and horseshit. He’s a feces wonk…no more, no less.

Listened to part of Hannity’s show this afternoon. His guest(can’t remember his name) said he has spoken to many House Repubs and none of them want the job.

Apparently none of them want a job at all.

Run, Paul, run.

Oh, please. Like Ryan could possibly be that stupid. McCarthy was picked because he was a patsy who didn’t have the brains to question why he had risen up the ranks so quickly. Ryan is someone who clearly plays the long-game, at least as far as any modern Republicans can. There’s no chance he’s falling for this.

The far-right really did screw this up, thanks no doubt to prodding from the super-right activists who have no skin in the game. Just yesterday I got a laugh reading an email newsletter from Erick Son of Erick, which had five action items; all of which involved him insulting someone for not being a manly man. I only read it because I saw the headline insulted Obama for being a wimpy gimp and I wanted to find out what that was about (apparently, he’s Putin’s gimp now). But the whole thing was ranting about what manly men they are compared to the wimps who aren’t super-right freaks; due to their need to over-compensate.

And one of the items was how even the conservatives in Congress weren’t manly enough to run for Speaker. Because in the world of conservative fantasy, only real men can stake out strong positions that mean nothing, while the wimps are those who compromise and get shit done. But it looks like these manly men scared off the patsy, and now they’re stuck trying to pretend that they’re not small children who were just playing dressup the whole time. We can only hope that some day these larpers will get bored with politics and find something more suitable for their mentality; like professional wrestling or video games.

Speaker Asterisk, with a lot of gaul. Or, Ryandrake, the Magician.

P.S. See also Krugman’s latest hit on Ryan.

And that tells you even more about the dire state of the GOP. After all, Ryan is to policy wonkery what Carly Fiorina is to corporate management: brilliant at selling himself, hopeless at actually doing the job.

“Ain’t too proud to beg…”

I’m on the Teabaggers email list. A neverending stream of insane stupidity.

Krugman nailed that haha

Ryan’s not going to run for speaker. He wants to be president. He thinks being speaker will undermine his chances.

R would a perfect fraud for the GOP.

Really- I haven’t seen such a celebration of false heroics since David Petreaus

I actually never read my email, so I normally don’t even see those newsletters. But I get Erickson’s from way back when I used to comment on RedState, in order to attempt to talk some sense in to them. And I was actually fairly good at it, because I never made liberal arguments or outright told them they were wrong, but would only gently push on the edges of sanity in hopes they could see more clearly. And I really was able to get people to be slightly more reasonable…when it lasted.

But then one of their main guys happened to find my blog, saw that I was a liberal, and immediately banned me from RedState for the things I wrote on my own site. It wasn’t even enough to be polite and non-partisan on their site. They banned me based upon what I wrote at my site, and even that wasn’t particularly harsh; especially not compared with the vitriol they post every day. But these babies are so weak that they won’t even allow anyone from outside their bubble to join in, for fear that their faux manliness will be exposed. Pathetic.
