Discussion: Report: Bergdahl Won't Speak To Parents

Discussion for article #225053

The media seems stunned that people have unique personal conflicts and experiences that defy alliteration-packed shorthand or they just aren’t comfortable coming out and directly blaming Obama.

TPM: Leave this story alone. Let some bottom-dwelling rag cover it. PUT IT TO REST ON YOUR SITE.

Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl has refused communication with his family since being freed from Taliban captivity, an unnamed Army official told the Wall Street Journal.

Yeah, I think I’ll wait to hear further official confirmation from a verified source.

Whitewash, seems to be the fall back position du jour in Fauxwhackistan.

Or perhaps the reason since none is given in this piece of drek

Amen to that. I am daily becoming more disgusted with TPM. This is not even a story.

More Media Exploitation? A lot of folks have mental health issues. Most of them go untreated.

Perhaps he’s been told NOT to speak to them ?

I learned decades ago that soldiers can act every bit as vicious as mean-girl, jr high school “heathers”. Once they find a victim on to whom they can shower hatred – especially hatred that casts them as victims of some sort of betrayal, there’s no stopping them. They’re like sharks after a wounded whale calf.

The Army has not charged this guy with anything, indeed returned him to his unit. If I were his CO, I would remind his comrades of this fact and woe betide anyone who thinks he has some mission to “punish” this guy for unproven allegations by his former platoon members. That behavior will poison an atmosphere like little else.

All Bergdahl can do is to keep his nose clean and sit out the remainder of his enlistment as best he can.

It might have been “suggested” by his “counselors” because
to be seen with them might generate rumors that they’re somehow coaching him in some behavior hostile to the Army.

And in other news: A family had a fight at the Thanksgiving Dinner table and haven’t spoken since. Video at 11.

Something happens to some peoples rationality when WAR enters the picture. The idea that young people placed in harms way for an extended period of time, with friends dying and getting blown apart on a daily basis, and innocent civilians getting whacked by accident–should NOT suffer psychologically, beggars belief. All of a sudden soldiers are supposed to become some sort of emotionless automaton driven by logic alone, with no capacity for empathy or grief. That type of ‘super warrior’ is either a complete psychopath, or utterly insane. If you can keep your sanity in a crazy, unreasonable situation, then something is wrong with you, or you are from the planet Krypton. WAR is an unholy disaster on every single front, for everyone involved, except the merchants of war products and services. WAR is nothing but a capitalist grist mill. We are ALL it’s victims. Can we stop the lynch parties for soldiers who break down under extreme circumstances?

Same is true for cops, and also gang members. It’s the classic you are either with us or against us syndrome.

Waiting for the Conjobs on the radio and Fox to accuse him of being “anti-family.”

Instead of hiring more content people how about a copy editor?

Blaming Obama for what?

And sometimes not entirely by accident.
