Discussion: Report: Adelson's Son-In-Law Arranged Las Vegas Review-Journal Purchase

Discussion for article #243875

these people have way too much money…Tax them…tax them all…this nation needs an honest and uncorrupted Fourth Estate…and this won’t do it…So there still is no appearance of corruption in our politics? ok then…

Remember the publisher in the TV show “Lou Grant”?

The accepted idea was that of a person, already rich enough, who wanted to enable journalists.

The thing which has changed in this Millennium is the word “:enough”.

Adelson is that other level of rich. He wants what he wants when he wants it and will not accept anything other than people getting out of his way or doing what he says. Add to that his zealotry for Israel and there you have it.

I was so hoping it would turn out to be Larry Flynt. Damn.

Ok then. I must now consider the R-J to not be a valid source for accurate political information as it is no longer even remotely independent, if it ever really was…

When something like this happens, that should be the S.O.P.

I’ll say it again: I’m betting they cause the “journalist” employees to leave in disgust. These plutocrat douchenozzles couldn’t even keep their Republican bias out of their announcement.

Best way to control the message, buy it. It’s the American way, and their are so many people who don’t get this.

Is Adelson in the new Star Wars film?

Adelson’s wife’s daughter from a previous marriage

Doctors couldn’t remove Adelson’s semen from it’s chunk of solid amber…

Cancel any subscriptions and advertising with this paper. We must stop providing financial support to the very people who use the money we give them to undermine us at every level. Close your wallets. It is the only “voice” they hear.

Total agreement with you. See my post above. If oppressed working class African Americans could have done this, in Montgomery Alabama in the 1950s, with infinitely less resources than people have to-day, why is it so much of a Rocket-Science metaphor in 2015???

I could see the value of owning a newspaper 20 years ago, but now? I think I’m one of the few people around my neighborhood that still gets one - old habit of eating cereal and reading paper since I was a kid.

No, Lucas didn’t want to give Declan Mulholland nightmares, plus he was worried Darth Vader would be seen as a moderate in comparison.

I had actually considered that the owner wanted to stay anonymous in order to not have any editorial influence on the paper, and thereby keep its reporting independent. So much for that.

Times surely have changed. What was the quote about the Best and Worst of times?

The Bad news is that the Oligarchs (and their Political Arm, the Republicans) have us where they want us

The Good news is that there are enough registered voters at this time to stop the Republicans (it just
has not occurred to those voters yet)

That really made me laugh…

Merely part of the plot to let his henchmen reveal the truth about Bruce Wayne.

Same stuff.
