Discussion: Rep. Meadows Asks Speaker Candidates To Oppose Bipartisan Budget Deal

I agree. The fatuous among us object to your use of the word ‘treason’. Your usage is the common one, not to be confused with the Constitution’s ‘Treason’.

And my guess is once he confers with Boehner and McCarthy and is assured that they have a comfortable margin to pass the bill, Ryan weasels out and votes against it. If so, the only questions is how long that snake he picked up waits before biting him in the ass.

To those whose absence from voting make people like Rep. Meadows possible as “public servants”:

Turned off by government?

No problem. Just keep that state of affairs and your being “turned off” will be academic and moot

Welcome Speaker Ryan. hahahahahahahahahaha! Now get up there and promote the general Welfare.

The “Suicide” err … Freedom Caucus is about 40 members, give or take. If the democrats vote in favor of the deal they would need about 30 republican members out of the more than 200 members to join them. Taking this fight off the table is a huge gift to Ryan. Nevertheless Ryan can say what he wants to mollify the crazies.

Someone needs to tell these guys to stand down. Care to show some leadership, Speaker Ryan?

They should go Judge Smails on the FC : You’ll get nothing and like it!

The “Freedom Caucus” is just another name for the Brown Shirts of old.

Willfully corrupt, and dependent on ignorance, yep.

Goes for both really…

"Now is the time to demonstrate real leadership by committing to ending the culture of governing by crises and to no longer allow the few to make the decisions for the many. "

Said in the context of a rant by one of 40+/- extremists who have done nothing but manufacture crises in an attempt to use them to hijack Congress with hostage situations in which they demand ransom in the form of “everything we want, nothing you want and there shall be no compromise.”

Epic self-awareness fail is epic.

Notice Mr. Meadows opposes the debt ceiling increase and NON-defense spending. No problem with increasing the defense spending apparently.

I know details of the deal are scarce, but the one summary I’ve read today mentions part of the “pay-for” of $80b in new spending is reductions in Medicare and SS Disability spending. If that is the case, (and not ‘reductions’ in the sense the ACA is impacting what they expecting to pay next year for the same level of services), I hope rank and file Democrats jump off this particular wagon and let Boehner and/or Eddie Munster hang. Democrats worthy of that appellation have to stop balancing the budget on the backs of the least fortunate. I’m willing to compromise, and I prefer the idea that any new spending is offset by reduction in spending elsewhere, just leave SS/Medicare out of the equation.

I am curious how he knows it is a terrible deal . . . he hasn’t had time to read it.

Agreed in principle-- though I like to refer to them as: Freedom Carcass.
Not a lot left to pick from on that roadkill.

These Freedumb guys just want to burn the country down. I hope he gets a great gig on a Clear Channel station.

No one should be under the illusion that this group of nihilists in the House are for “Freedom”. They are all the solely-owned subsidiary of the Koch Brothers in the form of bought and paid for politicians in our Congress. Any look at their campaign financing, their support getting elected and their extreme conservative views comes exclusively out of the billionaire oligarchs playbook…the Koch Caucus does their bidding at all costs as a way to stay in power while destroying government as we know it. A more accurate description by everyone in the media ought to label them what they truly are…They are

The Koch Caucus

The Freedom Caucasians should open up their own books and disclose their funding. Hell, they should wear the patches of their sponsors like NASCAR drivers.

Another story mentions that the majority of Americans would back a shutdown to get budget cuts… just what can be cut because they refuse to cut the bloat at DOD which leaves the already underfunded social programs… and with additional cuts I can expect the roads near my home, having been marked for repair for over three years now, will continue to fall apart and have more weeds grow down the center, because TN will never raise taxes to pay for road repair. I also will bet that more than one school in the county will start to fly blue tarps on the roof for lack of repair.

It’s a fill-in-the-blank headline: “Freedom Caucus member demands ________.” To which the response is: “Or else what?” In this case, as in many others, they got nothing.

The ludicrously named Freedom Caucus came to Washington to say NO and then do nothing.

They have the ridiculous idea that the Speaker is Speaker of the GOP Caucus, rather than Speaker of the House of Representatives. Hence a good part of the stumr und drang around all this.

Boehner is doing Ryan a huge favor by getting this done now.
IT could increase Ryan’s tenure as Speaker from 90 days to six or eight months before the spontaneously combustion.

Oh the butt hurt is strong on this one. Its gotta suck when you come to realize that youre part of the problem…

“Leadership’s determination to ram through this legislation days before we reach the debt limit, with zero input from rank and file Members of Congress, demonstrates precisely what is wrong with Washington, D.C.,”

No man youre whats wrong
