Discussion: Rep. Duncan Hunter Throws His Wife Under The Bus, Says She Handled Finances

What a typical GOP sleazebag. Even if she is guilty, she should divorce this gyrene ASAP.

In the same breath this Manly Man (1) bragged about his “military career” and (2) blamed his wife.

You can’t get lower than that in my book.

Throughout the interview, Hunter also called his reelection challenger, Ammar Campa-Najjar, a democratic socialist.

That’s pathetic but … no … flexing his muscles while putting the blame on a woman is still worse.

Now isn’t HE a pathetic POS. I get it. He’s been a man-boy fighting a war and running for Congress on his more famous daddy’s name since the turn of the century.

What nobody has mentioned is the TAX EVASION part of this: IF they took campaign funds of $250,000+ then they had INCOME they did not pay taxes on. They are in big time trouble.

The reason Cohen ‘turned’ was that his WIFE had signed all their tax forms and was legally liable as well (DJT is ‘disgusting’ for many reasons, but thinking that Cohen would put his WIFE in prison on tax charges is one of the worst); but in ‘this’ case manly-man Duncan is the WIFE. I bet that is giving all his buddies a laugh.

ETA: not that Cohen was not a POS for putting his wife in legal jeopardy, but where money is concerned she might’ve been going along with it all knowingly. Michael is a LAWYER. Michael will take care of everything. MAYBE. But I was impressed last week when they showed a ‘street scene’ of him with his teenaged (?P) son and the kid was facing the cameras WITH Cohen. I believe he ‘does’ love his family and they love ‘him.’ The guy on all those tapes being a first-class (fifth-class? I don’t know how to rate him) A-Hole was not the guy his family saw, it seems to me.

On a side note re tax issues: I hope Melania has an attorney. She also signed the tax forms. State and Federal. Yikes.

This is why people who have been charged with a crime should not be allowed to litigate their case in the press. Of course, trying to stop them, as is done in the UK, would run afoul of the First Amendment. Still, he seems to have left out the obligatory “I look forward to this opportunity to clear my name (and convict my wife.”

Two observations:
I think I saw this strategy on an episode of LA Law. He implicated her, she implicated him, voila! Reasonable doubt.
What is it with the GOP defense of trusting their finances to someone who can’t be trusted? If I were his opponent, I would be asking if he treats our tax dollars the same way. ( Hint: yes, he does.) Why should we give him control over the federal budget when he doesn’t even control his own? Why would he sign off on things that were illegal? That ad writes itself.

Any normal person might notice if shitloads of stuff was walking through the door every day. They might even ask, “How can we afford this?” Given that a lot of it appears to have been bought at Costco and Walmart and Target, it must have taken up quite a lot of room. And then there were the bank overdrafts, about every third day for seven years. Don’t you think the bank might have called every once in awhile?

Duncan Hunter is Republican royalty (descended from a previous Representative) - he was raised for this role. He is GMO GOP. As a legacy, he has the right and duty to cheat, lie and steal.

It is his birthright, peasants.

According to the indictment she told him to use his campaign card he needed golf shorts and she told him to go to the pro shop and buy them and they could use ‘that’ receipt to say they were giving golf balls to the Wounded Warriors. If they were being taped at the time (I gather this was brewing for some time) he KNEW WHAT HE WAS DOING WAS NOT KOSHER. He tried to arrange a trip to a Naval Base in Italy and they could not accommodate the dates of his vacation (which would have made his trip ‘legal’) and could not do it but went on the campaign-funded trip anyway.

HE KNEW. He may have been following her lead but that leads to the conclusion he is too stupid to be in office or too criminal to be in office. Take your pick.

They never worried about it for one second until they saw the credit card bills .
They spent like money was no object
That’s probably where most of the misappropriation went

And his pet rabbit’s birthright!

Prosecutors say the couple used the money to illegally pay for personal expenses, including lavish vacations, dental fees and a plane ticket for their pet rabbit.
