Discussion for article #226388
Wow, I agree with libertarian about something.
Sadly, I agree with the congressman.
Thatâs what I thought. He might be the real deal. Far too many of them are just conservative Republicans that are embarrassed by the culture wars.
âLibertarian Rep. Justin Amash (R-MI) reacted stronglyâŚâ
He reacted so strongly, he tweeted.
Broken clock, and all that.
Amen, nothing says serious like a Tweet.
This is twice Iâve agreed with Amash, one of my home state congressmen. Once when he dressed down his opponent in his victory speech and today. I wish we could agree on more things that arenât sparked by horrible behavior.
How long will it take the Tea Party to remind Rep Amash that when they say Liberty they are referring to property rights, not human rights.
Heâs mine. The dem. running against him in the general election is practically an unknown so, Iâm stuck with this asshole. Bob Goodrich (D) who is running against him is a movie theatre owner in the MidwestâŚwith a law degree. Sounds confusing? It is. Amash is an ambitious little shit, but he isnât dumb. He keeps his name recognition out thereâŚSometimes thatâs all it takes in some electionsâŚespecially here in Dumbfuckistan.
He probably needs a refresher course
and a good dose of the OldTestament vengeance and anger.

So Rep Amash-- who undoubtedly has a stellar record in voting for defense spending bills-- to equip our military with the latest technology-- which in turn sell the slightly outdated/outmoded equipment to towns and cities-- effectively militarizing small police forces⌠(~catches breath~)
âŚthen wants to know how or why a U.S. city looks like a freaking war zone?!
That is the height of unawareness.
Even for a conservative politician.

Iâm betting he revises his statements within 24 hours. Any takers?
The police state that some have been advocating for has come to fruition, and now you canât stand the sight of it? Is thatâs whatâs going on here? If so, I hope this new reality has finally shocked the tolerance system to declare that we shall NOT allow this police state to perpetuate any further!
Less a tweet.
More a vocal fart.

If the scenes in Ferguson are reminiscent of some past Israeli- Palestinian conflicts, thereâs a reason:
Thanks for the link.
An interesting read.
And a confirmation of my first inkling of this developmentsâ origins (a pull from the story):
â⌠reflected a disturbing but all-too-common feature of the post-9/11 American security landscape.â
Where Iâve got a similar inkling that the overbearing and heavy-handed responses come more readily from the smaller cities and towns-- who donât have enough personnel to respond to a situation with gradated strategies-- or with any level of nuance.
Theyâve been armed and trained for violent conflict-- and thatâs what will be served up.
One-size-brutalizes-all seems the order of the day.

Isnât this what the current climate in politics want, a war between the laws and enforcement and the citizens? He blames government, but he and his colleagues have shackled the communities with less and less funds, they have condemned education, rehabilitation, mental health. Their cronies that are supposed to be job builders have sent the jobs overseas and cut wages here, cut opportunities. They have preached intolerance and even encouraged intolerance with passing of state laws that basically thumb their noses at any federal regulations they donât like. That kind of attitudes toward the overall rule trickles down to disregard or disrespect for and kind of tolerance or understanding. Their partners in crime the NRA have been pushing guns and more guns and military equipment where ever they can find buyers. Arenât the police really just âgood guysâ with guns stopping the âbad guysâ and since the GOPTP preach that the âblack manâ in the white house, the highest job in the land, (next to Rush Limbaugh) is worse than scum under their feet, that people like Arapio are championed and little people like Brewer are applauded for that disrespect, why are we surprised and outraged that this is happening. It is the next chapter in the story of distrust and unrest that the conservative right wing has been fomenting for the last 6 years. Didnât Mr. Tancredo in Colorado just this week advocate for violent overthrow of the government?
This indeed is the outcome of the ânewâ Republican/Libertarian/Conservative government and corporations wanting to take over our society. Corporations love this, unrest, poverty, and violence justifies their sending jobs out of here and people only being able to afford to shop at places like WalMart and work in cheap chain food mills.
Is this the post racial America touted by our Supreme Court? There tare two HUGE issues that face America.
- Equality (on all levels racial, gender etc.)
- Income inequality.
Both are potential powder kegs.
Bravo. Amash is getting way too much credit for this tweet. He is attempting to appear reasonable, but notice how he turned his concern into a condemnation of the government (Tea Party/Republican/ Libertarian talking point).
