Discussion: Reid Says GOP 'Treated President Obama With Unprecedented Disrespect'

Out of Fucks to Give Harry has been even more entertaining than Out of Fucks to Give Obama.

The Profile in Courage Award nominations are coming fast and furious now.

I hate the Saudi regime. But this is American Exceptionalism at its very worst–the belief that we can make up special rules for treating others without fear of reciprocation or unintended consequences, because 'Murika, fuck yeah, made especially toxic by admixture with the American-Likudnik Public Affairs Committee, a good strong dose of anti-Islam prejudice, and 9/11 pandering, and, of course, a lot of pure electoral cowardice.

Fuck Chuck Schumer for pushing this. It is so perfectly, classically typical of him. Always first and foremost about Chuck and what he wants to do all the time.

I spent the better part of three years defending Harry Reid from people here who believed he could somehow overcome Republican filibusters if he really wanted without paying a huge opportunity cost in time spent getting things passed that could pass or that had to be passed. But when the shit comes down on Schumer, someone else can do it.

More than right. Republicans also gave us IDCIYR. You can be a grifter, an adulterer; you can give and accept bribes; you can shoot someone in the face. But if you’re a republican it’s OK. Trump’s self-dealing through his foundation is OK too, apparently…because we haven’t heard a single republican condemning that.

Like suggesting we could torture people without it blowing back on us. Little known fact - Only desperate late-inning lobbying got Pride included in the Seven Deadly Sins, Dems had to drop “conservative” to get it in.

Was Reid the one no vote on the Veto?

Congress, or I should say Republicans, have learned that impeaching is a waste of time. Instead they just sit on their hands and bitch and moan that the President doesn’t do anything.

This is absolutely true. The R’s did an incredible disservice to the country and the economy with their obstruction of Obama, starting from day 1. At a time when they needed to work with the President to save the economy, they decided to trash it . No excuse.

Dewey, Cheatem and Howe are standing in the wings waiting for the calls from the families.

It truly is ironic that the party personal responsibility has never taken account for the contemptible “YOU LIE” comment thrown at this President in his first State of the Union address to the nation. The irony of course is now they have the most lying Presidential candidate to ever reach the Republican Party’s apogee, and now their lot is thrown in irrevocably with his own. I hope it rips them to pieces.

The next after action report or autopsy as they are want to call it, should be an even greater read than their first post-mortem in 2012. There’s only so many times you can die folks before they’re not merely dead…they are really most sincerely dead.

I figured he must have been to come out with this.

Do you mean IOKIYAR, if not what does it mean.

Agree completely; and very well said, as usual.

I think Adam Gopnik of The New Yorker put it best. Trump and the GOP have basically “stop and frisked” this President.

Will anyone other than TPM publish these remarks?

Certainly none of the LIBERAL mainstream media with their AGENDAE.

If anything, this could ‘break the bank’ in the US should other foreign nationals start bringing lawsuits against the US and its actions around the world.

But of course, the legislators that overrode this veto don’t seem to give a damn about how it could hurt the nation down the road.

It’s going to take so many years to reach a satisfactory conclusion that the families and others seeking redress will be long gone, but the lawyers will lawyer on.

That’s OK, Harry. You still got to keep the illusion of your precious comity. And that’s what really matters.
