Discussion for article #224395
Go Harry.
I was positive the Sen. McConnellâs reaction would be this is proof that Obama oversteps, ignoring the fact that the President has had to resort to issuing EOâs and appointing people because members of his party refuse to do the job they were elected to do in either the Senate or House.
Too bad the court did not address the problem with the Senate pretending to not be in recess. Everyone know, and most likely the Supremesâs as well, that the Senate was not in session. They played a âphonyâ game and got away with it.
You know it is sure funny how when it is a Democrat in the White House recess appointments are unconstitutional, but when it is a Republican is all right. I guess when one party owns SCOTUS anything is possible. Just goes to show that Sandra Day OâConnor when she saw who Bush appointed to the Court was right: It is the perfect court now for a dictatorship. Democrats must wake up and vote in November unless we want to start on that final path to a dictatorship in 2016.
Mitch wouldnât recognize a âbrazen power grabâ if Joe Stalin himself grabbed ahold of McTurtleâs nutsack.
Does the SCOTUS ruling include ârecess appointeesâ of other presidents and negate any people who remain in those positions, if any? Or does this only apply to Black usurpers of the White House that the GOP doesnât like?
We can thank Sandra Day for putting W. in the White House with her decision in Bush v Gore.
Harry Reid will cry rivers like the baby he is when, coming November, he will lose his majority leader position and Democrats will be spoon fed buckets of their own medicine. As of right now President Obama has been told to take his pens and telephones and practice target shooting with it.
I am so going to enjoy drinking your tears in November.
So what happens now to the appointments to the NLRB?
I think the Democrats will get the last laugh, Libs. Sorry.
I believe Obama has to renominate. That to me means for certain that the Democrats must end the filibuster NOW, even if the Senate goes GOP (which I doubt). A lot can be done before the next Congress comes in if he goes forward with ridding us of this device.
âwhile Republicans refused to fill the slots.â
âŚthe olâ 113thâs historic do-less-than-nothing-Congressional legacy rolls on unabated.
The word âDysfunctionalâ can be used over and over again to describe the Senate and especially the Teabag Congress. This is what it looks like when money buys power in a non-democratic country. We lost our democracy without a fight. The politicians sold us out on the cheap.
Donât fund embassy security,Complain about Benghazi
Donât fund the IRS and complain they arenât helping the taxpayer.
Donât fund the VA and complain how our vets are treated.
Donât confirm dept heads or judicial nominees and complain that the systems arenât working.
Trying to make the President âcry uncleâ not happening.
The Senate is supposed to confirm or deny the presidentâs nominations based on their qualifications for the job. The Republicans have been blocking nominations to federal agencies in order to prevent those agencies from performing their functions. Thatâs clearly an abuse of power. The argument against Obamaâs recess appointments may have legal merit, but what was he supposed to do to keep the government functioning? At least the filibuster reform will obviate the need for recess appointments when the Senate is in pro-forma session.
