In 1993, around the time Donald Trump was gobbling up tax-free inheritance money from his wealthy father and driving several companies into bankruptcy,
After I proposed that awful bill, my wife Landra immediately sat me down and said, âHarry, what are you doing, donât you know that my father is an immigrant?â She set me straight.
Knowing Mrs. Reid, Iâm not sure Harryâs remembering the time-line correctly.
ÂżQue? ÂżPor que? Soy confundido.
She waited until after he proposed the bill?
Perhaps she didnât know he was going to do it. Isnât it possible she wasnât aware of what he was doing?
If Trump (aka Stephen Miller) have had to result to digging up 25 year old comments from ex-Senators to defend their racist and unconstitutional actions it should tell everyone they have zero support for this, in and out of the white house, not that thatâs news to anyone whoâs paying attention.
As a married man, i can assure you that is simply not possible.
Trump wants to go further than Reidâs proposal,
preventing even the children of non-citizens legally present in the
United States from attaining citizenship.
âŚ
Okey Dokey Mr trump, pack yer bags for Scotland. Yer outta here because youâre a non-citizen seeing as your mum was Scottish. Yeah your dad was a citizen but when did a detail like that stand in your way??
I like me some Harry Reid, and part of the reason is he couldnât give a shit if I do.
Senators and presidents should not be dissing the Constitution they are sworn to uphold and defend.
Nice jab! Wonder if tRump will come back for a second helping. And Kanye West seems to be returning to his senses too.
An interesting study in members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. On one side take Romney or Flake (letâs forget Hatch. He is just a creepy, corrupt old man by anyoneâs standard). At a personal level they are probably decent, kind likeable men that you would enjoy having as neighbors who genuinely want to do the right thing and honestly love their country. I think they honestly want to be good public servants. The problem is they simply have no moral courage. For just a moment we saw the real Romney as he called Trump a âfraud and a phonyâ and the real Flake as he asked to investigate Kavanaugh. Yet as soon as the pressure is applied they fold and are found at the table for a photo op with their master or voting as instructed after a sham investigation. Reid on the other hand has much in common with them. He also is good honest man that you would love to have as a neighbor. Unlike Romney or Flake he is a convert to his faith, so it is no small matter to him (not to suggest that the others are insincere). Yet he has something they lack, moral courage. Itâs not a matter of his politics are different. Itâs that his convictions to do what is right are stronger, and that is all the difference. Romney and Flake have both in times past spoken up for refugees in accordance with their faith which has been very supportive of immigrants and refugees, yet where are their voices now as Reid stands alone against Trump?
As my late Grandpa John would have said, âas silent as a whore in church!â
Respectfully, that problem of having no moral courage is the reason I think they are not good public servants. They talk a good game, but vote the party line. To me, thatâs them trying to cover their butts.
Yes, but he was fine with the abbreviated, politically-controlled investigation that didnât really seek answers, only show. I want to believe that Flake really values his friendship with Coons, but that investigation was for show only- to placate/fool people into thinking that Kavanaugh had done nothing, and Flake was okay with that.
I eagerly await Trumpâs apology on this issueâŚbut not holding my breath. âI made a mistake.â Four words we will never, ever hear from Twitler.
I like Harry because he came from hard circumstances with some awful family tragedy, worked even harder to become something more than his circumstances, and then quietly and modestly tried to do the right thing his whole adult life. We often bitched about him as Senate leader when he seemed too accommodating to the Reactionary agenda, but I always understood he saw the leaderâs job as first making the Senate work, and promoting the party agenda second. In other words, a statesman, unlike McTurtle who only craves the power to advance his party at any cost. Harry showed his mettle when it really counted, and used his deep knowledge of the Senate rules to jam the Râs when they broke promises. And today you see him come forward to admit a long-ago error when he didnât need to, because some pig was lying about it. And Iâm glad heâs able to enjoy his retirement with his wife and family, I think he earned it and earned it well. Thatâs why I likes me some Harry Reid.
Really? Somebody had to tell him?
I did not know about this and I am profoundly disgusted by it.
I wonder what was he expecting to gain by that hateful bill.
As for Kanye, that train has no station.
Say what you will, I really miss Harry Reid, warts and all.
