Discussion: 'Refugees Welcome' Banner Hung On Statue Of Liberty's Pedestal

That is just badass. How much security is there on that green lady? I’m not rich but I got a couple of bucks for the GoFundMe kitty if they get popped for that.

Let’s see if the entire on-duty shift has been fired by this time tomorrow.

Suspicion of collaboration with subversive elements.

I enjoy and support anything and everything that chaps The Rapist’s ass.

Might be “rogue parkies.” “The Monkey Wrench Gang” is a very popular read among a certain class of NPS employees. One of them who worked under me could quote from it as if it were a little red Mao book.

I love this.

Maybe it’s the return of the Scarlett Pimpernel who was The Freeway Blogger on W’s ass.

I’m just surprised the Bannon/Trump crew haven’t blindfolded and gagged the beautiful green lady and dumped her in a landfill already.

First thing I thought was some kind of inside knowledge about the security stuff. And it’s on an island, fer Chrissakes. I want the folks to get away scot-free in a way that allows me to hear how they did it some day.

I love it, too! Just reading the headline made my heart sing, especially after a Milo-filled news day!

I love it that so many of our fellow Americans are trying hard to make it clear that most of us don’t hate everybody else. Love or at least acceptance is really stepping up and it’s in a big way. That does my heart so much good.

If I let it, the deliberate, unnecessary and useless cruelty of the travel bans/immigrant round ups, would just about do me in and I’m not directly affected - it’s the suffering they are causing for no reason at all. It kills me, and I have nothing by way of suffering compared to the people they are abusing. Still, I really have to work to not let it get to me that much and still stay aware.

But to see us stand up for love and for the kind of generosity we always have prided ourselves on - the generosity of spirit Americans have shown when we’ve been at our best, takes some of the horror out of all of this for me.

Anyone entering the pedestal has to go through airport level screening including the body scan thing, after going through slightly less rigorous screening before they get on the boat. The banner, assuming it has no metal grommets, could get in under a coat if it was on fairly thin fabric and not that bulky. You can’t take any kind of backpack into the pedestal.

There is no way that this was an inside job.
