Discussion: Red Cross: How We Spent Sandy Money Is ‘Trade Secret'

Discussion for article #224410

I have just written to my congress woman and 2 senators to ask them to advocate for a law to REQUIRE of US NGOs collecting funds from the public posting on the internet all their expenditures. There is a malaise in the USA and it is the malaise of greed. If these organizations, particularly the Red Cross which is “Johnny-On-The-Spot” for every catastrophe (recent Midwest tornado events come to mind) they should let people know what they spent and how they spent it. “Competition” be damned. There is no “Competition” in public charity. Are they competing with Japan? (during Reagan, this is where the “competition” excuse rose to justify crushing Unions, etc.) Full disclosure - nothing less!
