Can we keep the fires burning until election 2018? Or 2020?
Democrats donât vote in midterms, so Iâm not getting my hopes up.
We need a community organizer with experience getting out the vote.
Having a little anxiety over leaving DCâs protective niche, are we? Shame and cowardice are normal reactions for failed humans.
Susan Collins refuses to do public appearances to answer questions about her role in the dumpster fire, preferring instead to go on public radio where she can control the questions and avoid follow ups. She was greeted by protesters as she made her way into the radio studios in Bangor this week, so at least she is seeing the level of discontent out there.
the new Republican mantra seems to be âthose people arenât my real constituentsâ , Marsh Blackburn being the latest, when the few that actually do have Town Hall meetings are engaged by concerned citizens that loudly and vocally disagree with the Representative or SenatorâŠ
Iâm also calling bullđ©on people like Susan Collins or Matt Gaetz (R-FL) who grandstand by calling for Cheeto Donnie to release his tax returns with absolutely no intention of following thruâŠ
Constituents or not, the mere fact that thousands and thousands of Americans are standing up and demanding action from the US Congress should be a not-so-subtle clue to each and every member of Congress that the American public is pissed off at what they are doing to America!!! Republicans in Congress are far too weak to face genuine opposition that is greater than the professional and nationally funded Tea Party charade that lead most of them into office, so they make extremely weak excuses that denigrate their fellow Americans by claiming they are not their constituents, thus their concerns do not matter. That is complete BS, and disqualifies every single one of them of the right to represent us, the American People! When they are faced with the task of defending their actions or inactions, they fail at the job we elected them to do, so they run and hide. Shameful. Cowardly. UnAmerican. Traitors.
The NYTimes gets it: Dems are discovering that the spine is an actual part of the human skeleton:
The article mentions one town hall I went to, and Iâm glad to see that it had the intended effect:
The fear factor is real, said Adam Jentleson, a former Senate Democratic aide. Images of angry constituents jeering Senator Sheldon Whitehouse, a reliable liberal from Rhode Island, at a town hall-style meeting in late January for supporting the selection of Mike Pompeo https://www.nytimes.com/2017/01/23/us/politics/mike-pompeo-cia-director.html as C.I.A. director quickly circulated among other Democratic senators, he said.
âIt was eye-opening,â Mr. Jentleson said, âbecause it made clear that the base is not going to let them off the hook.â

Weâre building an organization from the ground upâfirst pressure on the congress, but you can bet weâll be out there come midterms, working even harder.
I also share the ânot getting our hopes upâ prevailing attitude. But I also think this time is going to be different.
I just donât want to see us gain seats - but not gain the majority.
Here in NJ - weâre trying to oust a long term Republican rep - part of the problem is finding a candidate who will actually campaign for votes.
The last guy who ran against him just âfacebookedâ in. Its not enough - you have to actually meet the voters, introduce yourself, get seen - get âknown,â in the communityâŠ
The big one is not ceding the local races to Republicans. We need a strong bench at all levels, from dog catcher to school board to city council to state representative to the national offices. And the stronger we are at the local level, the more that helps at the national level.
The Koch brothers figured this out years ago. Itâs long past time for Democrats to be more aggressive here.
Make no mistake about it, Bannon has declared war on the US and our values. He said as much at CPAC. He knows what Trump is planning runs counter to everything America stands for with regard to human rights, freedom of the press, separation of church and state: essentially, what this country has shed blood to achieve for 240 years. Trump is the beast from the black lagoon (or maybe the white lagoon) and he will stop at nothing to ruin this country for his own financial and egotistical gain. Resist at all times. Never give an inch to this orange shitgibbon.
I think we can. We just have to stay focused and on task.
You are 100% right. Run the Republicans out of State Legislatures across the country. Kill gerrymandering.
I joined IndivisibleChicago yesterday. Lots of excellent info on local/state issues and races. I programmed my State Rep and State Senate numbers into my phone and called both of them about some IL bills that are pending. Then I sent 25 postcards to Paul Ryanâs hone address. Just 'cuz!
That is my Congresswoman in the images with this article and I tried to go to that town hall. But the venue was tiny and set in a fairly remote part of the district 35-40 miles from my home. It seemed to me to be deliberately set up to be hard to get to and held on a Thursday during work hours. There were about 200 seats inside the meeting.
I wanted to hear McSally speak mainly because she rarely answers emails. From what I saw on the outside of the venue the crowd was not tense. I saw people holding signs from all sides of various issues. The crowd was all mixed together and everybody accommodating each other.

Youâre awesome!
I thought Monsanto made RoundUp.
