Discussion: Reagan, Bush Also Used Executive Authority To Prevent Deportations

Discussion for article #230211

If you think repubs have any decency or honesty about what their heroes have done, you are naive.

Well, there is an obvious difference. Those were white presidents and Obama is black, so of course it’s an impeachable offense.

Yes, but St. Ronnie and Poppy had R’s after their names. That’s the difference.

So if the GOP is successful in suing the President and getting his EOs nullified, will all those people made legal by Reagan and Bush I be deported?

If Obama is impeached for using Executive Orders to prevent unnecessary deportations, then Democrats must add the poison pill to do the very same thing to Reagan and Bush.

If it were Reagan:

“The spirit of this president to extend his brand of compassionate conservatism
with the stroke of a pen is quite magnanimous,” said GOP Rep. Steve King of Iowa…

Tell me that wouldn’t be accurate.

Retroactively impeach Reagan and Bush!!!

No lawyer has yet agreed to even touch the GOP’s legless lawsuit, and there would be absolutely no legal leg for them to stand on if they try to impeach over this. They have legislation waiting to be passed, which if passed would obviate the EO. 'Nough said.

This is pure political posturing.

It’s simple. Reagan and Bush were white republicans.

Yes, Reagan and Bush did these things, but Reagan could do no wrong and Bush was a Republican. Obama is a Democrat, and he’s also black, so this situation is not only completely different, it’s the worst thing ever.

Hello, America, I’m the re-animated corpse of St. Ronald Reagan, and I have been resurrected to tell you that I support amnesty for undocumented immigrants. And, I also support nuclear (noo-klee-er) disarmament and tax increases. Oh, and don’t vote GOP. They’re crazy mother *uckers now. That will be all.

And also too: IOKIYAR!
It’s OK if you are Republican.

I wonder if a single Democrat in either the House or the Senate has pointed this out in any major speech, press conference, or interview.

What we do see is Claire McCaskill whining about the possibility of action by Obama.

I guess angrily voting to repeal Obamacare 52 times wasn’t “poisoning the well”??

Irrational, non-fact based, ideologies offered by the TeaPublicans might destroy the entire GOP, which in a two-party system is actually a very bad thing. The media must not continue to push the legitimacy of such characters who simply do not have any facts or laws on their side as equal to those who do.

Yes, but they were white.

Different spokes for different folks.

I totally remember this. Afterwards, Democrats and Republicans joined together with talk of impeachment of the sitting President.

Oh wait…

Saint Ronnie, the senile and George the First are clearly exempt from Republican reflection, insofar as they are capable of such.

No, not Reagan. Really? Couldn’t be. For sure? Oh, my.
