Discussion: 'Ready For Warren' Has Its Head In The Wrong Game

Discussion for article #227616

If Mr. Smith can’t walk and chew his gum at the same time, he is welcome to choose his preferred activity. Those of us who can multitask will be able to support a decent liberal for President while also working hard on state races. But thanks for the strategy!

Yeah, this is pretty weak sauce he is trying to pitch here. He might roll his eyes with his buddies at the thought of a Hilary administration, but I roll my eyes at anybody that is whining and tossing their arms in the air blaming gerrymandering for why we can’t take back the House.

Seriously, Mr.Good Liberal Political Strategist…are you really hanging your hat that there are not 17 seats that could be competitive this November? I challenge you to take a gander at just how many races are actually competitive and then revisit your thinking.

Moot. Warren isn’t running. We need to focus on governor’s chairs. Koch and other big money players are focusing locally because they know their national chances suck but that Clinton will toe their line in a corporate sense. I’ll wear my Warren tee but Smith is being very pragmatic.

I agree. Look at the California example, pluses and minuses. Getting a more"objective" division of districts, rather than going from gerrymander to gerrymander, as party in power seeks to protect its territory, seems like a possible way to go.

As for Warren, please. She is not running; she would not be a good candidate; if nominated, she’d be crushed. The fact that so many of us are winging on about her shows that we don’t understand that presidential politics is not about white papers and policy positions.

I will absolutely refuse to vote for Corporate-owned Hillary. I will be spending the vast majority of my time trying to help get more Democrats seated in congress!

Amazing to me how thick many liberals can be. Why do we have school boards shoehorning creationism into schools? Why do we have women’s health clinics being shut down around the country? Why do we have so-called voter ID laws being implemented in state after state? Why do so many states promote gunplay with Stand Your Ground laws?

Well, one significant factor is that local and state elections are just not “sexy” enough for politically active liberals. They want to be in on the “big game,” getting their names on the list for national election politics.

While you dumbasses were declaring that you can “multitask,” disciplined conservative apparatchiks were lining up the votes to win yet another local election. Decades ago, they figured out what you still can’t comprehend: controlling the national electoral politics is a long game, that is rooted in control of the local politics.

Liberal and progressive politics in this country has pretty nearly been reduced to winning the Presidency. And you think that this classic fail is somehow a victory. Just wondering WTF you think President Warren is going to be accomplishing with a House and Senate controlled by Republicans. “Gosh, I didn’t think about that.”

“As congressional districts are currently drawn, Democrats have virtually no chance of taking back the House of Representatives.”

If you believe that which you wrote, then it will be true. I do not. I think the U.S. House of Representatives is very much in play. I have run 14 campaigns and never have I seen an electorate so angry with one party - Republicans. If you espouse the belief that the House cannot turn Democratic in 2014. Then, I suppose I should quite giving to candidates I believe would be good members of Congress.
Be careful what you claim to be true,Mr. Smith. Frankly, I have never heard of you before and your claim to be a “Good Liberal Strategist” is just that; a claim.

I could say the same thing about the people who say “Ready for Hillary”. What’s his point? I don’t see them OR her talking about the need to elect Democrats THIS YEAR. It’s just “Ready for Hillary”. What’s the point if she faces a Republican Congress and Republican dominated states? It’s obvious he favors Hillary. That’s fine. He needs to bust his pretentious and condescending butt to help get some Democratic victories THIS YEAR.

Seriously----don’t you people GET it? We all love Warren for the couple of issues she is passionate and fights for—BUT who the heck besides us Far Left Liberals, even know who she is? Who thinks she could do budgets, be CIC, push a Far Left agenda and get away with it? My Gawd, Warren supporters—T H I N K !!! You want to win this WH seat, or you want to play games trying to put in a Far Left Liberal that has no shot in helll…Remember one thing----SCOTUS…Lifetime positions…You want to risk a Republican getting in and naming more of them? Put your lovely thoughts of having a Left winger in away
