“I have a message for all of you: the crime and violence that today afflicts our nation will soon come to an end. Beginning on January 20th 2017, safety will be restored.”

Teatroll Rosetta Stone: “Do not worry White-Fright Nation…my top priority is to put all those uppity minorities who are ruining everything back in their place and keep them in line where they belong.”

This entire speech is one big

ETA: I don’t understand why they keep saying you can’t pick your own doctor under Obamacare. Does he mean insurance? Even before Obamacare you couldn’t really pick an out of network doctor without having to pay way more for it… Who writes this shit?

Journalist/pundit Ezra Klein does a Josh Marshall-quality job of explaining why he is (and I am) very frightened of a possible Mr. Trump presidency. His is a long and detailed list and it truly boggles the mind. I share his fear.

Warning: Read with the lights on!

Well that’s not too bad. I still have six months to sew those Sheriff’s Stars on my clothes should Trump prevail (currently a 40% possibility.)

Together, we will lead our party back to the White House,
and we will lead our country back to safety, prosperity, and peace.
We will be a country of generosity and warmth.
But we will also be a country of law and order.

Hmm. Wasn’t that FDR?

You know that feeling of shock, revulsion and resignation to the urgent need to take action you free when you see the dog take a ginormous, steaming sick wet puke of some horrible outside shit it ate right on the expensive rug or the sofa? Yeah. Right now.

I read the speech online. It paints a dark picture of America. And guess what, somehow, he has all the answers and can fix everything. He says “I am your Voice.” No, he does not speak for me and can’t be allowed to speak for America.

Well to be fair… Some dickhead Republican Voting Doctors decided to not accept companies that went on the exchanges or found other weasel ways to to deny the newly insured, or get rid of their lower income clients who were just scrapping by.

Also some people did see the premiums go up… Their coverage was also better than it was before because the ACA got rid of the garbage plans that were basically like paying to not have insurance, but all low-info republican leaning morons saw was an increased bill.

It’s a very typical fascist/strongman appeal.
I would be really surprised if this message works for Trump, whose appeal seems to be based on being optimistic and positive, as I see it.

So, I guess the pivot to the general election for Trump is that he won’t use the word “stupid” for one night.

Just read about halfway through the text.
There is no effing way he doesn’t go off half-cocked at some point.

Edited to add:
And when he does go off?
Bet he goes off on Ted Cruz.

Yes, that line caught me. Safety will be miraculously restored the minute I am President. I am not saying how this magic will work, but it will.

Speed read of the entire speech shows nothing new, same old rehashed made-up facts, no real specifics. Just they will happen when I am President, nothing about “Tonight, I will share with you my plan of action for America.”

He’d have to have a plan in the first place…

Please, Steve. I am eating dinner. Or was.

In all fairness, there are reasons to be worried IF Trump were to become president, NOT reasons to worry that he has a reasonable chance of becoming president.

Pretty good speech. Think he’ll stick to it? The man’s barely literate and has an attention span of seconds. I doubt he’s bothered to seriously rehearse it, so if he, amazingly, can stay on script, you know he’ll sound like a third-rate community theater wannabe. And when the butts in seats start to wiggle, he’ll have to go rogue.

Will the shitestorm that follows be enough to wake up Mencken’s “great masses of the plain people”?

I really doubt it.
