This complaint is very well illustrated due to the length of the occupation and the generous use of social media. I’ve got to admit the fed’s patience has resulted in a collection of well-documented accusations with quotes and photos.

Given the deliberate and easy fanning of these violent flames, and the deliberate and easy access to weapons and accouterments of violent insurrection, this is scary stuff! There are certain blessings to being a senior citizen.

That’s a quote from Payne where he encouraged others to come out and be willing to “shed their blood.” It’s unclear to me that he knows the meanings of the words “wise” or “discernment.” Maybe he has a special edition of the dictionary to match his Special Edition Pocket Constitution.

Breaking and entering and criminal trespass, as far as I know, are crimes for which it doesn’t take a 32 page complaint in order to initiate an arrest. It’s still a mystery to me why law enforcement didn’t act immediately. If they had, this whole incident would be long forgotten by now.
It’s totally consistent with the sort of logical reasoning of Maine Governor Paul LePage. First, you buy the glue; then, you open the glue; next … and sure enough, soon it’s all SHOOT SHOOT SECOND AMENDMENT HIPHOP DEALERS SHOOT SHOOT!
No, if they had moved sooner, there was a great chance of blood being shed and much more support for the militants. I think the Feds played this well, allowing the militants to talk and talk (and act badly) and completely alienate the local population and reveal themselves to the vast majority of sane Americans how idiotic their whole clown-parade was. Their numbers continue to dwindle down to the couple of guys who are left. Finicum will likely be the only death because of the way calm way law enforcement has approached this whole dangerous farce.

I spent the time to read this ridiculously long complaint. In so doing it has proven to me that the government simply has a personal vendetta against Ammon Bundy and company. Let’s think about this: The complaint goes on and on and then describes each of the eight as either carrying a rifle or having a sidearm on their belts. What is the point of this? Is arms against the law? Is this criminal complaint an arrest for carrying arms? Then what is the point? The complaint then goes on and on about articles and videos being posted to social media. And what is the point of this? Did something happen to the 1st amendment? The complaint discusses the criminals occupancy in the refuge. Isn’t this “public” buildings on “public” land?
After reading this I am convinced more than ever this is a personal vendetta by someone, perhaps left over from the Bundy ranch episode. In reading this complaint, I can not see where these 8 have broken a law!!

Section 14 - Death threats and extensive intimidation of a federal officer.
Section 17 - Armed occupation of Federal property. For your clarification “Public Property” does not mean an individual or group has the right to use force of arms to occupy the property to the exclusion of all others and the purpose it was designed for.
Section 20 - Using force of arms to prevent 16 federal employees from performing the duties “We The People” hired them to perform on our behalf, for our benefit and the benefit of future generations. This is possibly the most serious crime as it is an attack on the very basis of the Constitution and of America.
Section 23 - Threats to bring armed conflict to the civilian population of the town, including using Improvised Explosive Devices and nighttime attacks using advanced technology such as night vision equipment.
And I am not even half way through the document. These men are extremist terrorists and it is only through the calm and thoughtful response by law enforcement that the good people of Harney County were not subjected to many more months of fear and lawlessness culminating in mass carnage.

The grammar…
The presence of firearms does matter. As it gives more weight to the threats that they have made. Making a threat is bad enough but when the threat is made by somebody holding a gun that they will kill you or whatever it carries additional weight and adds to the general picture of intimidation.
It has nothing to do with the First Amendment. They are not being prosecuted for posting those videos but it adds to the overall picture of intentions here and mind set. The First Amendment lets you say what you want, it does not protect those words from being used against you at some point either. It is not censoring the speech so it is fine. It is an attempt to demonstrate the mentality of these people and the violent rhetoric.
It is public land but that does not mean you can go in with firearms and force the employees to leave their duties and basically prevent the rest of the public from entering. Not to mention they destroyed public property, went through files that they had no legal right to go through, were using public property as if it belonged to them and so on. This is illegal.
Really, they wanted to annex public land, pending evidence they could be held for treason but at the low end they destroyed public property and illegally occupied public land and buldings (no permits and so on). It is also not ok to threaten public workers and so on. All of that is illegal.

Add onto that clear destruction of property and illegally using federal equipment and property. Plus attempting to incite other individuals to potential acts of violence.

What, a criminal complaint that goes into detail to show that each of the people being charged met the predicates of the crimes they’re being charged with? Who ever heard of such a thing. It really should have just read “They’re violent assh*les. Lock 'em up.” The way it was in the Old West.
Yep. Armed robbery, armed kidnapping, armed assault, even armed shoplifting are all categories of crime that acknowledge carrying a gun while committing a crime is a much more serious matter. Law enforcement used great restraint in arresting the armed criminals.
