Discussion for article #239807
Why glamorize this killler’s whines? TPM, I thought you were better than this.
He’s dead now, and should be dead to TPM as well. Time for TPM to do some actual investigative journalism and help us learn about those two innocent victims’ lives and loved ones.
We don’t actually care that this criminal’s mind was warped and incidentally played the race card.
This is the Teatrolls’ Exhibit 1 in their case alleging that this is a “hate crime.”
I dunno if it’s doublethink or triplethink at this point.
Ratings. They did it for Dylan Roof, we saw all kinds of his idiocy posted for a couple of weeks. Now we will see this guys idiocy. It generates clicks and revenue. There will be a little less for this guy since Roof’s shooting killed far more. But you will still see a lot of it.
They are idiots. You go by the primary motive, and that is workplace. He did not pick them out because they were white, it’s because they were fellow ex workers. So it’s workplace violence, not hate crime, even though he hated whites.
Like that jerk who shot people over parking spots a few months back. Yes, they were Muslim and he hated all religious people. But that was not his primary motive. It was the parking thing he was psycho about, so not a hate crime.
On the other hand Dylan Roof’s primary motive was race. Hate Crime.
Only “good” thing one can say about this killer: he gave himself the death penalty on the same day, saving taxpayers millions of dollars.
I think you may be confusing “motive” and “triggering incident”. Also, your blanket statement “he hated whites” is premature, at best, lacking such evidence.
We don’t actually care…
The royal “we”? I, for one, am interested in trying to understand why he murdered two people; what signals of his serious distress that others missed before he murdered; how long and carefully he planned the deed; when and where he got his gun. “A warped mind” is an unenlightening dismissal of the conditions leading to an unusually public double murder and subsequent suicide by the murderer.
Some of us bewail inadequate mental health treatment in America and its deadly effects when coupled with inadequate gun laws. It’s not logical to do so in other threads, yet poo-poo likely relevant insights from this line of journalism.
A person who blames all their problems on another race hates that race. And a person who always tries to claim racism is racist. He’s a guy that if you said “what are you, stupid?”, he’d say “oh, so you are saying all blacks are stupid”. Claiming being fired must be because of their race, not because of their incompetence. That kind of nonsense. And he refers to “white mf-er”. All indications are that was his MO, and it’s racist. And I see white people do the same thing, and they are racist too.
As to “motive” vs. “triggering incident”, not much different, so not sure what you meant? This guys motive was revenge for being fired, not race. And I don’t know what the incident that triggered it was, perhaps he was watching her on TV and just got sick of seeing her and decided to stake out her next interview. Maybe he asked them to give him a good reference for another job and they said no. No matter, it’s still all due to his getting fired. Workplace violence.
That to me is priority one. Was he able to just walk in and buy a gun? Enough of that BS. Maybe a few Republicans might act now since the victims were white and the shooter black. That could be their “excuse” for taking action. Pathetic, but whatever gets more control over gun sales works for me.
