“Neal also requested the returns for eight of Trump’s business entities in a move that could provide yet more detail on the president’s financial history.”

You misspelled “criminality”.

Geez, use a spell checker or something.

“Democrats aren’t doing anything. They need to demand Trump’s tax returns!!!”

“Oh, they did? Um … never mind.”

So was it @georgeh who was posting earlier today, in response to a House committee formally voting to subpoena the Mueller report, that it didn’t matter because after Two Full Months!! they House still has Never Subpoenaed His Tax Returns!!

Any comment on this latest development from the naysayers?

And… cue the 5-4 ruling from the Black-Robed Co-Kings that their President is above the law and his tax returns are exempt.

With the Bush-Gore caveat in the ruling that this is a one-time-only ruling which only applies to this President, not any future ones.

“Consistent with its authority, the Committee is considering legislative proposals and conducting oversight related to our Federal tax laws, including, but not limited to, the extent to which the IRS audits and enforces the Federal tax laws against a President,”

Not sure I understand…will they ask for other POTUSes’ returns? Checking to see if IRS ‘takes it easy’ on a POTUS?

Future @georgeh: “But they are still just asking! Send the Subpoena Brigade to the Rescue!”

Even if democrats succeed in getting trump’s tax forms is there any guarantee trump told the truth on them?

“They took too long.”

“Nancy and Chuck suck.”

“Democracy is dead.”

On a lighter note, watching george’s descent into madness is endlessly amusing.

So there’s that.

Not to put too fine a point on it…but I believe that’s the whole point of the exercise.

Nope. And that’s where it gets SUPER fun!

Other presidents have long released their tax returns when they were candidates, so it is unclear what the question of “will they ask for other POTUSes’ returns” is about.

Only a request, no subpoena yet, therefore doesn’t count.

You know how this works.

Yaweh, I hope not…

Most likely why he doesn’t want anyone poring over them… Could be compared with other things, see if he over/under-valued assets and liabilities, for example.

The returns won’t in and of themselves be a smocking gun, but they could feed a lot of fires.

I think that’s the point… they’ll have forensic accountants untangle all of this.

Once the committee has them, they can be read into the Congressional Record. Nice bit of U.S. kompromat to have.
