I wish he had Rosenstein’s balls and forced trump to actually fire him.

And so it begins.

Does it make a difference legally that he says “at your request” he’s resigning?

“Hello, yes – yes, I’ll let him know. Mr. Sessions, you have a telephone call from a Mr. Robert Mueller…”

Sessions’ acting successor, Iowan Matthew Whitaker (what’s the betting there’s a Grassley connection here somewhere?) has gone on record declaring that all federal judges must have a Biblical vision of justice, and specifically a New Testament vision of justice. This guy is going to make Sessions look good. Of course, he’ll probably only be around long enough to fire Mueller and order Trump’s political enemies to be rounded up, or whatever, but ew. A Dominionist AG. Whatever, Donald, you malignant old goon.

We prosecuted the largest number of violent offenders and firearm defendants in our country’s history

And activated and encouraged the largest number of violent right-wing firearm fondlers in our country’s history. Unfortunately for the next couple AG’s, they’ll have to clean up the blood that Jeff Sessions and Trump have spilt.

Oh dear , poor old Poison Dwarf .

The Republican-controlled Senate has made it quite clear that they want Sessions to stay, with Judiciary Committee Chairman Chuck Grassley saying there’s no way they’ll confirm a replacement.

I’m sure that Senate leadership will keep their word, right?

It would make my day if the FBI met Sessions with a Mueller Subpoena on his way out the door.

''Mr. Sessions? We would like to discuss the details of your relationship with Mr. Trump- as you are no longer protected as an administration official…"

The resignation allows trump to appoint his chosen person immediately without the need for senate confirmation.
Firing him would’ve set up a different replacement process.

Clearly nothing to hide

He also wrote a piece last August saying that Muller’s probe has exceeded his authority.

I hope the Saturday Night Massacre won’t cut into any of Herr Mousseolini’s executive time over a holiday weekend.

In the same way Israel has nukes pointed at Mecca- I’m sure Mueller has some Sampson Option waiting for Trump should he go squirrelly and try to get hinkey with his investigation.

Twitter is announcing this:

Hours after the polls closed:

1. Trump fired Jeff Sessions

2. Removed Rosenstein from overseeing the Russia investigation

3. Installed Matt Whitaker to replace Sessions and oversee the Russia investigation. Whitaker has publicly stated that Mueller has exceeded his authority
