Discussion: Rand Paul Ties Himself Into Knots On If KY's Obamacare Exchange Should Go

Rand Paul doesn’t know because there is evidence that it works. He doesn’t want to be the one to tell voters back home that he intends to take it away like Paul Ryan did with SS and Medicare. Romney/Ryan didn’t carry Ryan’s state of Wisconsin. Running for national office can get you in all sorts of trouble with the people back home.

He did remind one of Palin with that ramble. But then again all the Republicans are sounding like her nowadays.

Typical cowardly action from the good Senator. Either he has some core beliefs and character, or he doesn’t. He can’t have it both ways. Man up sir, take a stand and be prepared to defend your position. Using weasel words to avoid consequences is cowardly…period!

Laying off workers – because you “suddenly” have more paying clients??? If I didn’t know how Republican that is, I’d think he was lying? But remember, they started a couple of wars and made it so the VA didn’t have enough Doctors to treat the ‘sudden’ rash of patients, and still won’t fund more Doctors for the special needs of Vets.

Oh, he sure he’d like to get rid of the ACA, SS and Medicare. He just doesn’t know how he can say it without losing his Senate seat.

And Marco Rubio too.

Being a weasel has always been sort of a winning attribute as far as Republican voters in KY were concerned. But now Paul’s sharky attitude could bite the Republican base in the rear, taking away their new found dignity and make them beggars again at emergency rooms. Paul really needs to tread softly here.

Hah. Glad to see I’m not the only one that thought this movie was hysterical and true to form when it comes to the current GOTP.

“…need to explain why the VA’s been struggling for decade after decade in a much smaller system”

Wait! So Obama’s been screwing the VA for “decade after decade”? How is that possible??

Methinks there’s a slight of hand going on here; maybe even some outright lying. Maybe, just maybe these VA issues existed long before Obama was duly elected president?? Twice!

I hope that was just use of an old school phrase and not intended to be a factual statement.

Come along now, with the aid of the flying DeLorean he used to plant his fake birth announcements and replace his real Kenyan birth certificate. Silly.

Oh really? Not sure? Gee thanks for sharing! Such leadership!

Righttttttttt .

The nice thing about fence straddling is it’s easy to scratch your ass…

Using his example as a physician, it sounds like he was a bad doctor as well as being a bad legislator.

But he, like the Tundra Tart, has a puzzling yet audacious hairdo.

OK I’m still confused. A hospital closed (or laid off 50 people) because they got so much extra business they couldn’t keep up, huh? Why do reporters let politicians get away with saying crap like that?

Can you imagine an ice cream stand owners saying “I had so many kids wanting to buy ice cream on a hot day, I couldn’t keep up with the burden that demand surge caused, so I just laid off all my workers”? That’s total BS and gibberish, but reporters constantly allow Republicans to get away with it!

Sen. Paul is his usual clueless and dishonest self.

But now that the new healthcare law is in play, will it make things better, or worse? Warman and other hospital officials and doctors in eastern Kentucky say they aren’t sure about its long-term impact — but so far, the ACA is reinforcing and accelerating challenging trends in an already changing > healthcare landscape.

There continues to be a steady move away from sick care, which revolves around hospitals, to a greater focus on wellness and disease prevention. That’s good for health care, but can force hospital cuts.

At the same time, the ACA is magnifying Medicaid-related problems - such as slow and declining reimbursements that helped force cuts at Highlands - by increasing the number of people on the state and federal insurance program.

Doctors worry about Obamacare’s impact on hospitals
