Discussion for article #237625
Are we sure Cruz wasn’t pitching it as an applause line?
“It’s people straying away, it’s people not understanding where salvation comes from,” he added
Fuck off Rand, not everything is about religion, especially most mass murders. How about we focus on the fact that it’s easier to buy a gun in South Carolina than it is to vote and that perhaps it should be the other way around.
Per you and your nihilist libertarian brethren, nothing can be fixed by the government. Go suck (government laid) pavement, you gun lovin’ creep.
I can’t figure out why the GOP loathes the muslim fundamentalists. I mean, they are just as fatalistic.
The libertarian credo: don’t do anything because we can’t do everything. This man is brilliant.
Is he suggesting people pray harder?
In so many ways, this massacre has become a sort of litmus test that shows exactly how people in general but lawmakers in particular approach the dividing line of race. It’s both horrifying and instructive. The Rethugs appear to be using religion as the element that supercedes race - as a priority and as a political cudgel. For the curly headed simp to bring up the issue of “government” as tyrant in the face of so much personal horror really shows just how deranged he really is.
One would think that even a self-certified libertarian ophthalmologist would know that salivation comes from glands inside the mouth.
Yeah, what kind of country would stop a father from giving his loner/anti-social son a weapon, when there’s absolutely no proof that loner/anti-social young men with weapons have ever been a source of grief for others?
Paul clearly is in the contest among Presidential hopefuls to say the greatest number of outrageously stupid things in one news cycle.
Yes, yes they can be “fixed by government.”
Let me explain it to you Rand. Our government is “we the people” and if we, those people, decide to make a change in our society, we can pass a law and do that.
If you don’t understand that basic fact, get your tired ass out of the senate and stop your stupid campaign for president.
The kid got the gun as a birthday present from his dad. This doesn’t even touch gun law, because the gun was legally acquired. Same as the Newtown murders.
Doesn’t change the fact that the US has decided to glorify violence as a means to settle disputes.
Rand in true libertarian tradition figures it’s the fault of the victims because they couldn’t be bothered to be armed and in a position to return fire. Ted Cruz and Miss Lindsey Graham will point to the NRA as the way of salvation for all. After all, didn’t George Washington use a Colt peacemaker to drive Columbus back into the sea, making America safe for good white property owners?
OUR GOVERNMENT IS AN INSTRUMENT OF THE PEOPLE AND FOR THE PEOPLE. It IS US – we are supposed to have some say in policy – but right now we don’t have any. Corporations are deemed to have the same free speech rights as us and they use it to buy elections – which elections do not reflect the sentiments of the majority of the population. As a result, we all are forced to live under the constant threat of gun violence. And OUR public airways and our government developed internet – paid for by us – are used in the most cynical way to poison and propagandize. We lament that muslim terrorists take advantage of our technology to recruit terrorists and to spread violence – when the right wing does the exact same thing. This shooter is THEIR CREATION.
If situations can’t be fixed by the government, why is he - a member of government - even bothering to comment about it?
He obviously can’t help.
I seriously don’t get the fascination some on the left have with Rand Paul.
This Saturday my salvation will be Peggy in Accounting. But that’s just me. Your results may vary.
Correction. “cannot be solved by Republican Government.” Now, it’s accurate.
Of course it can be fixed by the government. Make laws that restrict gun ownership to “well-regulated militias”!
Has anyone stuck a microphone in LaPierre’s face? Shouldn’t the shooter’s father bear some legal responsibility for gifting a gun to his unstable, pill-popping son?
