Discussion: Rand Paul: I Do Not Support Impeachment

Discussion for article #226006

Well at least he’s smart enough to know that it is a loser for them and since he’s running for President, he is playing the long game.

It’s a Democrat trick that Republicans can’t shut up about impeaching the President…for being the only one in Washington ‘Doin’ Work’.

There is the $3Million quote again. Impeaching Clinton wasted $80Million.

We all know how this is going to play out.

1). A reporter from Yahoo News says that Rand Paul does not support impeachment.

2). Rand Paul sends out a press release accusing Yahoo News of twisting around his words because of their liberal bias.

3). Rand Paul tells Alex Jones that he is open to the impeachment of Obama in theory because in theory all of those conspiracy theories could possibly be true in which case impeachment is necessary as long as we’re asking theoretical questions about the very real possibility that it is necessary to totally impeach the President for real.

4). MSNBC reports that Rand Paul is open to the impeachment of the President.

5). Rand Paul sends out a press release accusing MSNBC of twisting around his words because of their liberal bias.

6). Ron Fournier blames the President for forcing Rand Paul to be so inarticulate.

Have the Republicans explained yet how they plan going to get 67 votes for conviction and removal in the Senate?

Hell, have they explained yet how they’re going to break 50?

Chris Matthews has a theory on this. It’s that Republicans don’t really care if President Obama is impeached as much as they desperately want to de-legitimize his presidency. They want that asterisk by his name so that they can say he was never really president, that he wasn’t supposed to be there. They want to scrub his name and accomplishments from the history books and make him some sort of insurgent who stole the presidency.

Not enough cash in it for him?

Sort of a “Nixon who?” with a twist.

Excellent, but you forgot:

2b) Various poorly informed progressives say to themselves, “This Rand Paul isn’t so bad”.

Nope. They also haven’t explained their actions deceive as much as words. Impeachment isn’t their vehicle to remove the president from office. It simply fleeces right wingers of votes and money.

No guts, eh, Randy?

With just four words, I do not support it, Paul is granted the status of sane republican. I can’t see him sticking with that sentiment, however, he’ll eventually mumble “didn’t say that” when asked by another reporter

When you walk the double yellow line on a highway, sooner or later somebody from the left or the right is going to run dead over you.
In his case, be more entertaining coming from the right.

Between this and his disinclination to be as bellicose on foreign policy as Dick Cheney and John Bolton, Paul has managed to alienate two wings of the GOP nuthouse.

I think that quote is the reason he’s bringing it up. Forget impeachment, that lawsuit is going to cost way more than $3 million.

Jones is just planting the $3 million seed because Republicans in committee voted against an accounting of how much the lawsuit will actually cost.

And yet, when the GOP House sends a bill of impeachment to the Senate in 2015, guess which way Rand Paul will vote.

And POOF! goes AquaBuddha’s chances in 2016. The base will lynch for that heresy.

Aw, isn’t that cute? Ayn Paul Jr. is trying to sound all reasonable and stuff, so he can run for POTUS.
