Discussion: Rand Paul: GOP Can’t ‘Completely Flip’ On Gay Marriage

Discussion for article #226115

Let’s hear the Religious Right reply to Rand. Paging Huckabee, paging Huckabee. Hey, I’d settle for John Hagee or even Rick Perry at his prayer-a-thon.

Theocrats vs Corporatist - I'm off to buy some popcorn.

Rand completely flipped on drones, he can show the Republicans how.

“Republican party cannot “completely flip” on social issues like gay marriage”

Guessing that is why segments of the GOP still think issues like desegregation and interracial marriages are bad things.

Sorry Rand Paul, you can’t have it both ways.

So AynRand Paul believes that Republicans don’t need to support equal protection under the law----and that they can agree to disagree" with the 4th and 14th Amendments to the Constitution.

As usual, Ole Rand is absolutely Derptastic.

However, Paul said the GOP could eventually learn to “agree to disagree” and should embrace a “bigger tent” of ideals if it wants to win elections.

Sounds like RANd Paul wants to have it both ways.
and spouting the lame standby response of “we’ll agree to disagree” is not a “bigger tent of ideals” – whatever the hell that means.

Ain’t gonna flip, just gonna ‘adjust position’.

Rand has to be one of the most venal members of the Senate, willing to say ANYTHING to keep voters unsure of his real beliefs. Aqua Buddha is a perfect example of the morally bankrupt right-wingers.

Shorter Rand:

“We need to keep our bigot base”.

I mean, many of these people joined the Republican Party because of these social issues. So I don’t think we can completely flip.

In other words, if we flip on gay marriage how are we going to continue to get the rubes to vote against their economic interests?

Long live the Southern Strategy!

“[The Republican Party] either continue to lose, or it’ll become a bigger place where there’s a mixture of opinions,” said Rand Paul in a woefully un-self-aware depiction of the dynamic most likely to crush his national ambitions.

Exactly. Don’t flip…do the Paul Run Away instead.

He done Rand “Away” has a nice ring to it.

I guess folks can just wait around and wait for the GOP to “evolve”.

What other choice have they got except to support the Democrats?

If you tell people from Alabama, Mississippi or Georgia, ‘You know what, guys, we’ve been wrong, and we’re gonna be the pro-gay-marriage party,’ they’re either gonna stay home or — I mean, many of these people joined the Republican Party because of these social issues. So I don’t think we can completely flip.

As LBJ once famously said, “I think we might deliver the South to the Republican party for a long time to come, so I don’t think we can be the pro-civil rights party.”

Of course the real test will be if the Jr. Senator eats a PalinBurger near gay activists…

Well, according to a former Paul staffer, Ron Paul refuses to share bathrooms with gay people. No word on how the Paul clan feels about eating around gay people.

They have already flipped. Lost their ever-loving minds.
