Discussion for article #224194
Rand is just being machiavellian here.
Friends close, enemies closer.
This is Rand Paul’s biannual fart of common sense. It will create a stink in the GOP, but will soon dissipate.
rand paul is interesting, considering we have a democratic party that foreclosed on the middleclass and poor and subsidized the rich thru a recession. I think the fed reserve should be audited considering they help cause most of the problems in the economy
Six months ago various repubs wanted the U.S. to support the Syrian rebels with money and arms. Many of these self same rebels are now ISIS. Nothing most repubs say makes sense in their rush to do the opposite of the administration.
Amazing that they are still competetive in politics in the U.S. Says a great deal about our electorate.
If you truly think that Rand Paul is a friend of the middle class, then I encourage you to donate your life savings to his campaign.
True, and most of it depressing as hell.
Please explain what you mean by this.
Is War the only way we can keep our economy functioning? We seem to be reduced to manufacturing GMO food, tobacco and weapons of mass destruction. So…would our economic growth disappear without war? What does that say about us as a nation?
As an aside, note yet again that NBC invites and gives Rand and his ilk a huge soapbox. NBC loves to shill for the GOP and the Tea Party.
And I thought it was the Republicans who were sold out to every CEO with money. We the people have allowed a campaign finance system and the Supreme Corporate Court has legalized the destruction of our democracy. We cannot allow our politicians the opportunity to be bought off because few of us would be able to turn down the millions of dollars and job opportunities being offered as bribes to kill our democracy. We are all slaves to money in some fashion and would sell out for a secure life of riches if given the chance. We would come up with hundreds of excuses for selling out. It would be patriotic. We allowed this system to exist and elect the people who are chasing the money and power. This is the Ronald Reagan Individualism System. This is a ME country not a WE country.
Rand is just positioning himself against Hillary Clinton for the 2016 election, as Hillary voted for the Iraq war, based on the lies of the Bush administration. Hillary’s every action, even the pregnancy of her daughter, is considered a political move. Is the media mob accusing Rand that his stand on Iraq is the just another political move? I doubt it.
I give RANDY until 5:00pm before he walks this one back.
Rand Paul is no friend of the middle class.
And the Fed is audited several times each year—by its Inspector General, by Congress, and by outside accounting firms.
What the Paul family calls “auditing the Fed” is really their attempt to completely politicize monetary policy, which would be disastrous for America and the economy.
I see that Cheney is coming on "this week with george S."just called Rand Paul and “isolationist”.Popcorn down here in the first row please.

It was well-thought through and thorough. Something else is up his sleeve.
It’s Sunday morning, which means it’s time to “Meet the Republicans”.
Rand Paul is in it to win it. Young people do not want to go to war for other countries who won’t fight for itself or for the same democratic values that Americans fight for. That is it in a nutshell. If democrats run on a Cheney like platform Rand Paul will be the next POTUS. Democrats are going to have to show that we are the party not for the 1 percent and right now democrats are not doing enough of a good job to show this by never putting one bankster in prison for destroying the economy in 2008.
No doubt Paul’s comments will resonate with some who are war-weary and think Rand Paul offers a way out of the Permanent War footing we’ve been on since September 2001.
Beyond this being just a cynical ploy, it’s also of a piece of Paul’s anti-government ideology. Hopefully, not too many liberals are willing to buy what he’s selling.
That’s like six sentences in a row, from Rand Paul’s mouth, that I actually agree with. That must be a record.
Now to take a shower…
