Thanks for saying that about the “protestors” at Penn State…
In fact, there are studies that show black fathers are MORE likely to be involved, especially in their children’s daily activities.

In my experience (20 years teaching teens), the father who disappears and fights paying child support and doesn’t visit his children is more of a white problem, as they are far more likely to move away and weaken that all important proximity connection.
it’s sort of impressive in a nasty way how untruths just get reified as truths.
The lack of black fatherhood relative to other races is a myth that, unfortunately, a lot of blacks themselves believe, including President Obama. Black fathers are just as involved (or fail to be involved) as other races.
“I came through the train on Baltimore (sic) last night, I’m glad the train didn’t stop,” he said, laughing, during an interview with conservative radio host Laura Ingraham.
Not half as glad as the people of Baltimore.
This from a man who son has been arrested 3 times for underage drinking, disorderly conduct and assaulting a flight attendant. So take care of your own shit hole before you start given advice.
No you idiot. It is not because of the morals of blacks or the fathers being there or not.
It is the thug cops that have been killing citizens for decades now and getting away with it. We have had enough of law breaking cops who get away with murder. You are the problem Rand if you don’t see that. It conveniently lets the politicians not do anything to change the militant law enforcement practices that is going on in every police department across the country. The cops brought all of this violence on themselves and need to own it. They are the problem. We are not safe as long as they continue with shooting first and shooting to kill. It has to stop!
Maybe he should take this up with his own son and father…both of whom might benefit from his wisdom…
Yes, it is “just a racial thing”. Particularly ~150 years of socioeconomic policies, systems and institutions, designed to perpetuate the oppression of African Americans.
Thank you very much for posting this. One of the interesting and sad aspects of the recent cop killings of black men is that in almost every instance the victim’s father was an extremely involved father with a close relationship with their child.
On a purely anecdotal note, if you are on Twitter or Instagram, you’d see it’s the rappers (the right wing’s very definition of quintessential thugs) who give back most to their communities and are the most hands on, involved parents and it’s almost to a fault. Personally, as a black woman, I know very few black men who aren’t in their children’s lives.
Congratulations, Rand, on your self-disqualification for higher office. Now you can focus on the family business, scamming the rubes.
I heard his son has been arrested, while he is hopscotching all over the country. Joan Wash posted that on Tweeter.
So I guess those thug cops who give “rough rides” to their captives don’t have fathers, right, Rand?
Rand Paul’s 22-year-old son has been arrested for DUI. He could have killed someone. Where are the parents? What kind of values has he teaching his children? Don’t throw stones if you live in a glass house, man.
It’s about income inequality, racial discrimination and abusive police policies…and lack of fathers in the homes of young families because they end up in debtors prisons from high traffic court fines or minor drug offenses. If they had the opportunity to acquire good jobs, there would be no such problems.
It’s the Republicans who lack morals. They outsourced the middle class standard of living, tanked our credit markets with deregulation of Wall Street banks, liquidated stable American companies using hostile public equity leveraged buyouts with junk bonds and privatized our public services which raise our taxes. Once responsible civil servants who were accountable to the public have been replaced by greedy private contractors who dole out work to desperate workers making unnecessary profits after paying kickbacks to crooked conservative politicians.
Conservative Republicans took what was once a thriving American economy made up of growing small business and turned it over to multinational monopolies who make short term profits, make no reinvestment in our nation and stifle any competition.
Rand wouldn’t know how to create new capital and jobs if his life depended on it…which it will if Republicans keep putting the boots of bigoted cops to our heads while they fleece others of their life savings and home equity with Trickle Down Economic strategies which never do.
Our grandchildren cannot make a decent living slaving away at multiple minimum wage, part time jobs with no benefits. This is not acceptable to the Silent Majority any more than it is to those rioting in the streets.
These GOP job creators better think about slinking off to the foreign countries where they tax shelter their ill gotten gains and offshore our American jobs. Otherwise they might find boots to their heads soon, too. Those fires are closing in ever closer to the gated communities and financial centers of the Top 1%.
Those Republican leaders like Rand Paul who demonize the poor, sick and underemployed while making excuses for his own political corruption are at high risk of getting what they deserve, too
He sounds like an abusive father. Call Family Services.
Thanks for disqualifying this horrendous Republican lie with your personal experience. A parent who lavishes their child with time and attention whether they live inside that home or not is the best parent. Money means nothing to a small child.
From my experience volunteering at school, church, youth sports and Scouting, I’ve found that it is often the parents who are in the home but ignore their children to first always satisfy their own wants, needs and preoccupation with their careers who do the most harm to a child’s fragile psyche.
Give all thanks to Ronald Reagan, GHWB, and GWB!
Cops don’t have fathers?
He didn’t get that memo. Wikipedia wasn’t working that day.
Paul missed that. It wasn’t on wikipedia.
