Discussion: Rachel Maddow To Megyn Kelly: Racist Work Emails Are Actually Pretty Weird

Discussion for article #234207

I’m sorry, Dr. Maddow, they’re normal at FOX.

Her office probably is an outlier; I think MK’s remarks were, sadly, pretty accurate.

I love the way Rachel schooled Megyn with good humor and no small amount of snarky ridicule.

That shit would get you fired at my work. Rightfully so.

There is an America in which people of partial African ancestry call themselves, “mixed”, “multi-racial”, “bi-racial”, “African-American” and “black”.

All with equal aplomb

There is an America in which people do not faint upon seeing interracial relationships and marriage, INCLUDING those with people pf African ancestry.

There is an America in which people have comfort and confidence relating with and among people of different colours.

And then there’s the Confederacy.

It’s enthusiasts (who extend to the Arctic Circle) comprise the audience watching Megyn Kelly, whose value is not that of a journalist but a hostess serving bigotry in a pastel-coloured studio.

As a poster stated on another topic, FOX viewers comprise only a few millions of people, but with Gerrymandering, Age-Related voting patterns, suppression, gimmicks, unequal representation (e.g in the Senate, California gets two senators and about 15 hillbilly states get 30 with the same amount of people) they and their brethren have stumbled upon something we had better learn how to combat. Soon.

Thanks to multiple John Doe investigations in Wisconsin, we know these type of racist emails are very common within the WI Republican Party and in Scott Walker’s administration.

Maybe it’s just part of modern right-wing culture?

The problem with that reality (if indeed it is a given) is that most of those other companies aren’t sworn to represent, protect and serve, with violence if necessary, the very people they are mocking.

FIFY That’s part of the policing problem, too many think this is interchangeable.

I don’t think Rachel’s office is an outlier. As I mentioned in another thread on this topic, I have worked in my current job for nearly 9 years and my previous job for nearly 7 years and I’ve never received nor sent racist, off-color, or otherwise inappropriate email. My current company is a Fortune 500 company and the other was a large local employer.

I would wager the cesspool email concept is the outlier.

These types of emails are grounds for termination is any company in America. I’ve been working in corporate America ever since email was invented, and I’ve never seen a racist one. They are anything but the norm.

Man, I’d love to get a look at Fox News’ internal email system. Can someone bribe their sys admin?

A. I hold employees of the state, sworn to uphold the public, to a higher standard than I do the clerk at the local 7-11. Just like I would hold a government judge to a higher standard of impartiality than I would a judge on American Idol.

B. Regardless of how common it is, it’s disgusting. Being common doesn’t make it OK. And isn’t it Fox News that’s been telling us racial discrimination is no longer an issue?

It is…My stepdaughter just left such a company. A polite way of describing it was “good old boy system”. Some expressions I would use for such a company would have me banned from TPM whether people understand Spanish or not.

Those emails are a firing offense at my tech company, too. And likely at any company where the managers (a) care about the company reputation, and (b) aren’t racists. So that lets out Fox News

She’s probably the smartest, most honest person on the air.

I love her.
