Discussion: Pulse Nightclub Gunman's Widow Is Acquitted On All Charges

Oh good. I was missing my morning insanity Trump tweetstorm.

Good. This always seemed like a desperate attempt to find someone to blame since the actual perpetrator was dead.

Not sure of the specifics of the prosecution’s contentions. However, I can’t fault the Feds for chasing down and bringing to justice co-conspirators or those failing to stop such acts when charges are appropriate.

From what I’ve read of the evidence that the prosecution relied on, it was really a circumstantial stretch. For example, because he took her on a shopping spree at a mall near the club it meant he was ā€˜buying her off’ and she was ā€˜helping him scout the location’ even though they never could actually place her at the scene.

And supposedly she drove him to the club? The defense showed evidence that a) she didn’t know how to drive and didn’t have a license and b) he was so controlling that she couldn’t even leave the house without him. It just seemed really like ā€˜hey we need to blame someone.’

I’d be interested to see if there is an investigation of how the charges were brought here. This stinks to high heaven of Trumpism.

It’s routine for him to falsely accuse friends and families of not reporting or of being complicit in the planning. Obvious effort to demonize an entire community.

Kind of an odd reaction to that comment. No one faults the feds for chasing down co-conspirators. By rejecting ALL charges the jury has sent a message that the Feds were not doing that. In fact if one reads the facts in the case they were persecuting an abused woman.

This kind of thing predates Trump. There is a terrible rot within our entire Criminal ā€œJusticeā€ system, especially regarding women…

They didn’t have the evidence to convict her and I’m glad the jury got that.

A jury also decided Trayvon Martin got what he had coming to him.

What does that have to do with this case besides nothing?

They still kept her in solitary for 14 months.

How the hell you go after a domestic abuse victim with an IQ of 82 is beyond me. If she’d been white and her husband Christian, no way would it have gotten this far.

Dickishness is bound into the heart of a prosecutor.

This is the kind of result that revives my faith in American justice.

It was the correct verdict if she was too dim witted to know the consequences of what she was witnessing.

Plus she was an abused wife.
