Discussion: Pruitt To Recuse Himself From Lawsuits He Filed Against EPA As Oklahoma AG

Only one year? Should be for the whole of your tenure … but you’re a Thug, so it’s okay (in your mind).

My thought exactly. He filed the suit, so the conflict does not simply disappear with time. As long as the suit continues and he remains chief of the defendant agency he sued the conflict of interest remains. One would think this would not have to be spelled out for him… Oh, wait. He knows this already but just wants to orchestrate his suit successfully from the inside.

Political Thuggery. ā€œConservativesā€ of today are committing political thuggery and they know it. They are not Republicans – they are Thuglicans … Thugs, for short.

I’m guessing someone pointed out the optics, so he’s trying to slip this in while disguising the one year limit…these lawsuits will take longer than a year. And, I guarantee that his recusal won’t include putting underlings who agree with him over this, so it will be just like he’s running it.

There’s 2% milk and now there’s 2% not awful. Maybe he’s wised up to the fact the Congressional majority has just leapt off the cliff and a Democratic House will not let this crap skate.

Follow the money…

Trump has a long list of investments in fossil fuel companies. Pruitt is a fossil fuels cheerleader.

The recusal is window dressing. Trump can get the EPA regs rolled back via EO or legislation. And then Pruitt can implement the rollbacks.

Trump profits and Pruitt’s employment in the private sector is secure for life.

As long as he’s not stepping back from the policy issues, the recusal is meaningless. The EPA wins the suits and Pruitt directs them to change the regulations the way he wants anyway.

He won’t have much to do now.

ā€œThis administration is running like a fine-tuned machine,ā€ Trump said. ā€œDespite the fact that I can’t get my Cabinet approved, and they are outstanding people.ā€ Feb. 16, 2017

It’s always a good sign to have Cabinet secretaries who must recuse themselves from issues related their departments.

Maybe he won’t be in office for more than a year.

Gee, yah think?

Because he’s involved, heavily involved, in litigation.

You know, most employers have much more rigorous standards over who they hire for sensitive jobs.

Oh bless his ratfking little heart…This is the equivalent to saying ā€˜I’m sorry if anyone is offended’ after telling one of their egregious little jokes…and then insisting Colbert should be ā€˜fired’ for a word.

ā€œAs Oklahoma’s attorney general, I filed thirty seven suits against the evil EPA. I’m happy to report that I prevailed in every single one of them.ā€

And just as importantly, purging those who disagree with him.

Times are dark, and getting darker. In firing the members of the Science Advisory Board, Pruitt said nothing.

The board is tasked with reviewing the work of EPA scientists and provides feedback that can be a powerful voice in shaping the agency’s future research. The cuts ā€œjust came out of nowhere,ā€ Richardson said.

This follows the kleptocrat line that shifts the blame for the world as it is from them to professionals, administrators and the researchers who have spent many years in school. The delusive simplicity. We should have seen this coming. Scientists that acknowledge or even mention the damage inflicted by business interests, especially those involved in resource extraction (minerals and water) or introduction of chemicals into our bodies and the environment (poor biodegradables, toxins, carcinogens, endocrine disruptors, etc.), now face economic sanctions. What is notable about Trump’s entire cabinet is that none of them have any credibility with the academic community. That alone should have triggered alarms and poured water on the complacency over the persistence of meritocracy. That’s gone, people.

Y’all are correct. He probably will check out after one year. Go into private practice and make much more money instituting new suits as plaintiff’s attorney. Be too bad if we can wrest control of the House and oversight is reinstituted, but all these guys think this’ll be a 1000-year reich (pace Godwin). In fact, I hope they continue to ā€œproceedā€ with the arrogance.

Isn’t that nice? You are stepping away, you thieving price of dung! Meaningless gesture! He’ll be up to his dick in repeal measures and policy changeas–which was reason enough for tRump to bring this jackass into the cabinet.
