Another shot in the war on science. Fired from behind a wall of body guards, and a sound proof booth.
Thanks once again to our wonderful “Green” party and its fellow-travelers for doing so much to protect us from an Al Gore or a Hillary Clinton presidency.
Global average high temperatures may reach 1,250 ºF after Trump’s visit to S. Korea.
The ongoing and seemingly vengeful removal and muzzling of scientists in the EPA and other other federal agencies is one of the most distressing and devastating aspects of the current administration. I am continually reminded of that expression “death by a thousand cuts”.
Inmates running the asylum is SOP for the Donnie “Two Scoops” Mob.
Perhaps I’m a little more depressed than usual this morning, but I’ve put a lot of thought into the pattern and nature of the GOP assault on our nation and, honestly, I don’t see much chance of us getting through this anymore.
I don’t see any way out either. While Rome burns, our side will continue to bicker about whether to break eggs from the left or the right side. And will continue to demand that Democrats “earn” their votes.
Why don’t we have another emotional battle about whether the national minimum wage should be 12 or 15 dollars per hour? That’ll help!
Totally agree- and I feel this way pretty much every day. The way I see it- there is not one area of our governance/infrastructure/justice- that is not being attacked- health care; environment; diplomacy; climate; education; energy production; tax policy. Am I leaving anything out? I do not see how we recover.
Pretty soon they’ll need another cone of silence.
So a university professor with a federal research grant would be hopelessly biased but a pharmaceutical executive with a multi-million dollar salary plus performance bonuses and stock options would be neutral and objective. GOP logic on display.
Don’t worry, Donna Brazile will bring us all together and out of the woods…
I know how you feel. So I went looking for something to change the mood - at least for a few minutes at the beginning of this Saturday. This is what I found:
Aretha Franklin brings tears at the Kennedy Center Honors.
That is my feeling exactly.
Cheer up Ralph, do some push ups … or something. It is disconcerting no doubt and it bothers me that Pruitt & Co. act with gleeful dismissal and disrespect for not only science, but all the decades of dreary mind numbing trial and error research required in the process of backing into answers. They have no fucking idea, and like their leader, don’t care b/c they’ve been breathing the air everyday for seventy years … and they feel fine.
Jeebus, now I’m really depressed. Thanks Ralph! Remember, push ups … and most importantly, Mueller. And then more Mueller.

[/quote]This is what caught my eye, too. Yeah, if you’re paid by the government with taxpayer money your research will be totally biased in the direction of…what? Protecting those people from the effects of industry-caused pollution and climate change? And where is the claimed conflict of interest in doing government-funded research? You might tilt your findings to please a particular Senator? Did Pruitt ban university scientists who do research paid for by industry? Because I didn’t read that as being one of his concerns.
I gotta say that helped.
AND, lets not forget the House Bill submitted yesterday requriing Mueller to resign because of “an appearance of conflict of interest.” So very sensitive to appearances of conflict the Right Wing Troglodytes who all crawled out from under their rocks during The Reagan Admin
I find I am right there with you many days - what really terrifies me is the new technology that will allow for the production of seamless videos and undetectable phony recordings so that the amount of fake news may become almost insurmountable. I try to be cheered by indictments and political anger and enthusiasm on the left, but the fact of the matter is that most of the people I meet and talk to on a daily basis do not even know who Scott Pruitt even is or what he is doing. And you can multiply that by 100 for the rest of the bad actors in our political universe now.
And I do not see a lessening of the tribalism either - if anything, it is becoming stronger. They can do all of the surveys on Trump’s loss of favorability that they want, but the majority of people in my neck of the woods still wouldn’t vote for a Democrat - period. Nothing is going to change their minds.
