Discussion: Protesters Shut Down Road To Trump's Rally Outside Phoenix

Discussion for article #247616

This is really, really dumb, people.

Protesting is smart. Disrupting is very stupid. And helps Trump as well.

I’m glad to see people protesting just to get the message out there that we’re not all cool with what Trump is saying, but this is bullshit. You can’t stop people from listening to Trump. That’s not how this works. You combat free speech with more free speech, not less.

And if what Trump is saying is so offensive then I want everyone to hear it. Let’s broadcast his message loud and clear so everyone understands what this election is about and shows up to defeat this buffoon. I’ll never understand why anyone wants to let conservative cockroaches hide in the shadows when we should be shining a light on them and let people see them for what they really are.

Let The Donald speak! It’s bound to be hilarious.

Lookit Officer K. Nelson. My 13-year old could grow a better patch of hair on his face. (I hesitate to call it anything more official.) Looks like ArPileO is hiring children.

They are easier to indoctrinate.

Exactly, and this is becoming WAY to prevalent in protests these days. Seems a lot of people want to make the protest about themselves, not some cause. They want to get on TV, etc. In that way, they are not much different than Trump.

Yes, I want him to be the nominee, he stands no chance against Hillary. Leave him alone for now. Learn from Rubio and Bush. You attack this clown, and you help him

And in the bizarre event a Republican is going to be President, Trump is actually better than Cruz. Trump is a blabbermouth shock jock who knows most of what he says is stupid. Cruz actually believes most of what he says. HE is the more dangerous one. Trump is actually pretty tame on some social issues (though he will never admit it during this process), and the military would refuse to do the things he has said he will do, and he knows that (but will never say it now).

On the other hand, Cruz is just totally nuts.

Protesting is ok…blocking the road is not…get smarter!

Who says these people aren’t paid by Trump to facilitate yet another (like Chicago) ratings stunt that diverts scrutiny from Trump’s blatant fascism while further undermining the Bill of Rights?

I am sure that on March 8, 1965 there were letters to the editor suggesting that, while they agreed with their motive, the civil rights marchers blocking the Edmund Pettus Bridge were damaging the cause they were fighting for by breaking the law.

Oh please, the conspiracy stuff is just real silly. I’ve seen plenty of liberals acting like assholes at protests and such. All these people were not paid by Trump, they are people who hate Trump and want to get on TV to show it.

Well, I too am sure there were…but that probably is where the similarity is likely to end. One group of people was protesting words; the other was protesting actions and laws.

Those people were marching to Montgomery, they were not blocking the bridge. The police were the ones who blocked them and then the police committed atrocities. How on earth does that compare to this situation? Here the protesters are being stupid, and the police are in the right. Two completely different things.

Or, in one case people were marching for free speech, in this case the people are trying to deny free speech.

Or, in one case the police were out of control and violent, and here they are doing a fine job.

MLK’s model will work best against Trump.

It ain’t just “words” that they are exercised about. Especially if you are a latino, a muslim, a black, etc*., a potential Trump Presidency represents a clear and present danger.

They were marching 50 miles down a highway. That is blocking traffic.

Their march blocked the road. That was the excuse that the police used.

Protesting is fine as long as it doesn’t get in anyone’s way?

Trump and Arpaio, two bad people that our system allows to slide through the cracks.

This is a flaw in Democracy and yet ironically, also one of its strengths.
