Discussion: Prosecutor Confirms 'With Certainty' Wing Found Is From Missing Malaysia Plane

Discussion for article #240077

Now the question is, will we get any answers?

They’ll possibly be able to tell if the plane underwent a hard or soft impact when the part detached from the aircraft, from what I’ve heard/read…

We already have. Based on currents and elapsed time, the current search area has been determined to be quite accurate, that’s very important to be confirmed. Also, they can possibly tell if the wing was intact when the plane hit the water, etc.

Oh, it also shuts up some of the conspiracy nuts. Not all of them yet, but some (the “Diego Garcia”, “Mossad” and “Iran” nuts).

If there is one thing I’ve learned about conspiracy nuts its that they never shut up, give up, or go away. You can provide them with reams of evidence disproving their theories and they still will claim that they’re right.

And yes, we’re getting answers…some answers at least. I hope we learn more.

Yes, the “suicide hijacker” nuts are still yapping. Of course that makes no sense. If the guy was looking to make a political statement, he would have crashed it into a building in Malaysia. There are also some nuts who think one or more passengers were targets of a hit. Also silly.

Reality is likely a fire on board, smoke situation, pilots incapacitated, plane then flies on autopilot until out of fuel. So instead of suicide pilots, more like heroic effort pilots.

“Prosecutor”? Shouldn’t that read “investigators”?

Much like conservatives.

Hell, those are the sensible ones. The crazy ones are (or were) saying the passengers are all alive and the plane was flown to central Asia, somehow avoiding every country’s radar.

The reason the suicide hijacker theory has creedence (at least for the start of the flight), including among the real investigators, is that the transponder and other communications were deliberately shut off, and then afterward the plane was turned 180 degrees and made several other course changes before ending up way in the middle of nowhere. That doesn’t happen from a fire on board.

Could be another intentional downing.

When you have a fire and start to pull busses, which is the first thing you do, you can easily turn off the transponder, etc. Also the first turn made was toward the nearest airport that could handle that size plane, which any pilot would do. Other course changes could have any one of a number of explanations, like a correction on auto pilot, etc. If a plane starts to bank too far one way, the Boeing will correct itself.

I rule out suicide “pilot”. Yes, I suppose suicide hijacker is feasible, but again, it must does not make logical sense.

Most sensible thing I have seen is this, and this came out soon after it happened.

It still makes the most sense.

That surprised me too but apparently since some French nationals were on board France has started a criminal investigation.
