Why are we deifying Boy Scouts as a paragon of legal virtue?
If youâre the defense, whats your strategy for closing argument?
âItâs not illegal to have ostrich jackets.â
âitâs not a crime if the bank exec WANTS you to have a loan.â
âRick Gates is such a sleaze. Who knew?â
âSQUIRREL!â
âHow can you trust anything a fraudulent accountant tells you?â
âFREE BEER!â
They got nuthinâ.
i donât know about Miller. I read an opinion piece by his uncle who tells a pretty good story about Millerâs ancestors coming here from Belarus via chain migration to escape pogroms. They worked hard and over decades built a successful multi-generational business. Sounded pretty typically American to me.
What happened to Stephen growing up is a mystery, but he was known to have once told a Latino friend that they couldnât be friends anymore because the friend was socially awkward, had pimples and was a Latino. Frankly who would want to be friends with Stephen Miller?
No what they are arguing for the defense is that the Prosecution didnât meet its burden of proof; that there is insufficient evidence to convict and itâs a wholly spurious argument and the only one theyâve got.
I didnât really follow the trial, but just the summaries of the evidence shared here convinced me the prosecution was methodically establishing all the elements of every crime.
Stephen Miller denies his ancestry.
And no drinking water from the tap if it came from the waste treatment plant in town. And Iâm pretty sure those gas lines donât pay for themselves either or out of the goodness of the natural gas company.
I recall that vulture capitalist Mitt Romney said that it is perfectly fine to lie as long as you are doing it for your faith, money, power, family, or to hide another crime.
Okay, I made the part about âto hide another crimeâ up.
This is exactly how I explain to people why I could never, ever vote for a republican. They are a profoundly selfish, highly greedy bunch of people.
Will his base understand any of this and how heâs implicated (which hasnât been demonstrated yet, admittedly). Will they really care about it? These are people who think they can get where he is, financially, if the Dems would just stop obstructing and let Trump be Trump, so they can have their gold plated toilet.
No, together with the fooling around with the voter registration system and other anomalies, 45 could easily be re-elected. And thatâs if we get the chance to choose at all.
Silly me. I like roads, schools, libraries, fire/police protection, airports, sewers, running water, Social Security, Medicare etc. etc. It is galling to know that in many cases the âuber-wealthyâ skate their responsibility to contribute to a civil society. I guess it leaves them more cash to be able to buy politicians to legislate on their behalf.
Whoever dug up this picture is the commenter of the year.
As much as Manafort is in to the Russians for, he might be safer behind bars than as a free man.
Thanks for the story.
Not to be critical, but:
- Itâs âmisledâ not âmisleadâ in the 1st paragraph
- Itâs 18 counts in this trial. 9 more counts in D.C. in Sept.
Yeah he doesnât have a thing to look forward to but more pain. hahahahaha
âThe star witness in this case is the documents,â Andres said.
EXCELLENT!!!
If you get the concession, make sure to order double because Rudy 9/11 is going to use a lot of them.
Actually I thought it was the accountant, but ok. hahahaha
Not until the Defense gets its closing argument.
Then a possible rebuttal by the Prosecution.
Then instructions from the judge to the jury.
THEN deliberations. And probably wonât start until tomorrow.
Yep, âRick did itâ is the only defense they have. Thereâs literally no witnesses they couldâve called, nothing they couldâve offered to rebut the prosecution. This is the best and only strategy available to them.
