Uh… Bernie criticized Clinton for not being aggressive enough on climate change… so I am not sure why Bernie would garner any greater support from those who favor the use of coal.

Very disappointed in the way this is framed. There was no “walking back” of what Hillary Clinton had said during that speech. She said so much more. Context, context, context! Yes, she did say “We’re going to put a lot of coal miners and coal companies out of business,” but she also said that was related to the current downward pressures on the use of coals around the world and here in the States. She ALSO said that BECAUSE so many will be put out of those jobs, she fully supported training those and future workers for other trades, not to forget those people, to make sure they had the healthcare coverage they needed, etc. Dammit, seriously – if you’re going to report on such a quote, use proper context. I expect this from FOX Entertainment and World News Daily, yes – TPM, no!

I’m no Bernie Bot (I voted HC in Pennsylvania) but I have eyes to see and it is NOT ok that she is continuing to look like a terribly weak candidate. In fact, it has a potential to turn into a perfect storm for Trump, as she may be the only canadidate in the country who is in the same stratosphere as him in terms of negatives. This election is going to be largely a personality contest and HC neither inspires and she is widely loathed. It’s a problem and it’s scary.
It does concern me that she’s such a terrible campaigner/communicator that she would make this coal workers gaffe. Obama had his cling-to-guns-and-religion moments, but they were few and far between, and he – like Bill – had the ace card of charisma to play when he dealt himself a bad hand. Hillary makes more unforced errors and doesn’t has about as much Teflon as my old, scratched-up camping pan.
