How is what Cruz did a betrayal? By all accounts he never promised Trump an endorsement. Trump did attack his wife and father. Families are normally out of bounds in politics, but Trumps attacks were gratuitous. I think Cruz is scum but he didn’t do anything wrong.
For all the loathsome things Dumpster has unleashed on the public, one of the most unforgivable is making me, just for a second, agree with and admire - just for a nanosecond - shitweasels like Cruz. The enemy of my enemy and all that.
Just for a nanosecond, again.
I think what amazes me the most about this is that Trump’s supporters are offended that they should vote their consciences. Does voting your conscience inherently mean you can’t vote for Trump? Are they unfamiliar with the concept of a conscience? Yeah, I get that it could be implied they weren’t and that it’s the language of the NeverTrump crowd, but still… Josh made mention that there is some evidence the Trump people whipped the crowd to this frenzy, and I suspect eventually there may be more reporting on that; planned and instigated by Trump thinking it would be the final humiliation of Cruz. It’s telling that those watching in a focus group had no clue why the crowd was booing and weren’t offended in the least (from something I read this afternoon… Huffpost?).
Despise Cruz, but last night was terrific! In all the reruns today I couldn’t tell the difference between cheers and boos.
“I just think the statesman thing to do is to get behind the nominee and he wasn’t selected in a smoke filled room. This was the American people who selected him. The largest number of Republicans who have gotten behind a nominee in history so that’s something we need to honor,” said Rep. John Fleming (R-LA)."
This illustrates the power of a talking point. Rep. John Fleming is a sheeple. Doesn’t he realize that since Trump did not get a majority of the Republican primary votes that it is also true that Trump is the nominee who had the most Republicans voting against him in history?
Why isn’t the blowback on this hullabaloo directed where it belongs? The vaunted decision-making skills of The Donald allowed Ted in the house.
I know that ! I know that ! YES !
