No, she’s with the Office of Communicating Made Up Shit. Steven Miller runs the more prestigious organization that’s the real brains of the operation…
Trump makes deal with NK almost exactly mimicking Obama’s deal with Iran and the GOP/Faux News hails him as the Messiah reincarnated…in 3…2…1…
The North Koreans are laughing their asses off at the “dumb Americans.”
I guess it’d be hard to keep your job if you had to explain to a roomful of media that your boss doesn’t even know what “denuclearization” is…
Not that that even matters, since Trump is convinced that all conflict will vanish in his mere presence.
Jesus, it’s not hard to see how Trump managed to negotiate his way into multiple bankruptcies, two failed marriages, and a dangerous entanglement with the Russians - but, hey, yeah, of course, THIS is the guy who’s going to negotiate/solve the nuclear problem.
Hoping my eyes don’t just roll right out of my head; lord knows they get a regular workout these days.
“What is the President’s definition of complete denuclearization?” she asked.
“There is no cannibalism in the British navy – absolutely none! And when I say ‘none’, I mean that there is a certain amount…”
How can anyone still think that tRump “mis-speaking” is news? The news is when he doesn’t.
Brains? Brains? You think there are brains in there?
Surely, you jest.
Their humor should be tempered with the realization a blithering idiot has nuclear launch codes.
I’m afraid I have to part company with you on that one. The relevant Monty Python sketch for this administration is, was, and always will be the Dead Parrot sketch.
Or he was fantasizing about female staffers or golfing.
And he wants good press at Faux
Fox and Fiends were creaming their drawers this weekend telling us how Trump’s “tough guy” stance had brought them to the table , something no other US president had done .
The NO KO’s know that they have the most gullible dishonest human being ever born at their disposal who obviously has never seen Charlie Brown , Lucy and The Football.
Playing him like a cheap violin
Shutting down a nuke plant and ceasing firing missiles is not the same thing as “denuclearization of the Korean peninsula”. The Kim regime still has missiles and nuclear bombs. And they have uranium and plutonium reserves to make more. Of course trump and crew think that if they say something then reality will bend to fit. Trump has thought his whole life he can bend reality to fit what he says. It’s one of the several pillars of his serial lying method. Except that it just does not work that way.
Denuclearization means different things to different despots. To KJU, it means ridding his country of nukes by sending missiles to Tokyo, Seoul, and Washington.
He is an easy mark Clearly Trump was unaware that the N.Korea promised nothing re: abandoning nukes. Nope, He fucked up the message this past weekend. Bigly.
So first of all, let’s pull out the line often attributed to Winston Churchill – it was actually Harold Macmillan – “jaw-jaw is better than war-war”. That’s especially true in this situation, where the worst case scenario is really unfathomably bad.
So, I am glad that DOTUS seems, for the moment at least, more interested in “making a deal” than in proving whose, ahem, arsenal is bigger and more studly.
But after nuclear firestorms are (tentatively) off the immediate list of worries, what next scares the Hell out of me is the very good chance that Kim is angling to get Trump in a situation where he blindly agrees to, or proposes, something out of his sheer ignorance that is strategically catastrophic for us and our allies.
“Denuclearization” could easily fit that bill. See, if Trump were to, for example, impulsively agree to a “fair is fair” kind of provision where both sides verifiably remove nuclear-capable weapons systems from the Korean peninsula, you could easily get to a place where the President has just agreed, without knowing it, to cease all U.S. Air Force and Navy activities in the area. Most of our combat aircraft are “nuclear-capable”. Ditto any vessel capable of launching a Tomahawk.
Kim certainly knows that Trump is ignorant. He knows he can be baited. And he knows he’d love to make a historic deal.
Now that there are almost no adults left supervising the toddler-in-chief, and he disinclined to listen to the few that remain, the risks of Making America Great Again by screwing over ourselves and the South Koreans are very high.
“The President wants to do what is in the best interest of our country, and even in the world"…
Biggest lie of the press briefing.
OT:
Apparently trump is deathly afraid of some people fleeing violence in Central America. He seems to think they will utterly destabilize America and turn us into … fear besotted hermits shuttered in our homes and afraid of our own shadows…
I think that what I said in response was that I would at my time and choosing be willing to meet with any leader if I thought it would promote the national security interests of the United States of America. And that continues to be my position. That if I think that I can get a deal that is going to advance our cause, then I would consider that opportunity. But what I also said was that there is a difference between meeting without preconditions and meeting without preparation.
