Discussion: Presidential 'Election Integrity' Commission Demands Massive Amounts Of State Voter Data

Vanita Gupta, the former acting head of the Department of Justice’s civil rights division under President Barack Obama, said the commission’s letter was an indication the commission was “laying the groundwork” to carry out changes to the National Voter Registration Act that might will seek to restrict access to the polls.

Yup (with one slight correction).

Yup.

Trump’s “voter fraud commission” is tasked with examining “voter fraud,” but not election fraud. That means it’s focused on a kind of fraud that DOESN’T EXIST vs. a kind of fraud that is widespread by the GOP. And could only be exacerbated by the GOP’s demand for all voter rolls?

Is it any surprise that leftie states refuse to comply?

I live in CA. I am AMAZINGLY IMPRESSED by Jerry Brown’s refusal to compromise with Trump’s administration in any way, and I 1000% approve. On every topic, from climate change to voter validity, Trump’s agenda is questionable at best.

I don’t want Trump to list me on voter rolls. I don’t want Trump to touch me in any way.

Does that make me a bad person? No. It makes me an American. That’s the way we are.

The states could print the data out on paper, in whatever format amused them, and send cartons of it to the “commission”. That’d set this effort back by decades.

“recommendations “for preventing voter intimidation or disenfranchisement”

  1. Stop electing republicans who use their power to intimidate and disenfranchise voters.

  2. Refuse to comply or cooperate with this commission’s threatening behavior and disenfranchisement schemes in any way, shape or form

The end.

…so much for a vote being private.

By what legal and Constitutional authority is this information being “requested”(?), “demanded” (?).

In fact, by what legal and Constitutional authority does this “Commission” even exist?

Say what now? They want my name, address, and Social Security number to publish to the general public? I’d better cancel all my credit cards and bank accounts right away!

“The letter asked state officials to deliver the data . . . which often includes the names, ages and addresses of registered voters . . . including Social Security numbers and military status . . .”
" . . .all information turned over to the commission will be made public."

Sounds like an open invitation to Identity thieves: A veritable gold-mine of personal information that will all become centralized under the jurisdiction of a legally questionable “commission.” What security will this “Commission” apply to this information?
