Excellent…push the Donald,
And drop the medicare age to 50.
Hahaha…President No-Fucks is poking the bear…love it…
Sounds remarkably similar to Hillary’s proposals on Social Security… probably just a coincidence
President Obama: “[I]t’s time we finally made social security more generous and increased its benefits.”
“But Democrats and Republicans are all the same!”
Or something.
“They can afford it,” he added. “I can afford it.”
Class traitor. If he would just cut taxes, the wealthy would have enough to finally pay their gardners, cooks, and cleaners $15/hour, but nooooooooo.
We are gonna miss this man after his term ends.
Andrea Tantaros is going to have to dust off her ice floe retirement plan and present it as an alternative to Obama’s suggestion.
Or my favorite - let anyone who qualifies for a Federal health insurance subsidy under the ACA buy into Medicare, instead, at any age.
I can afford to pay more and would gladly if it meant improving the lives of Americans.
Hey hopefully he will follow in the path of President Clinton/President Cater/VP Gore and do something to continue his contributions to the country. We have a lot of democratic ex-Presidents who are incredibly active and are improving the lives of others even after their term ends…
If there is one thing I trust and know in my bones, it’s that this president plans to be one of the consequential ex-presidents in history, just as he is/will be one of the most consequential presidents. I assume Michelle will make him take some time off after they leave the WH (and they both damn well deserve it and so much more), and he’ll have some time to write his memoir, but then I suspect he’ll hit the ground running when he goes on his book tour. I’m certain gun reform will be a big issue, but I also think he’ll continue to be a champion for the poor and middle class, especially inner city youth.
Bravo!
No it doesn’t. HRC’s expansion is targeted at women, not the elderly.
Step 1: Remove the income cap on Social Security contributions (the so-called earnings tax).
Step 2: Require Social Security contributions from individuals below the retirement age who do not have earned income, but have investment income above $100,000 (or some other reasonable threshold).
Step 3: Means test Social Security retirement benefits for those above the retirement age with incomes above $500,000 (or some other reasonable threshold).
These and/or similar actions should assure the solvency of SSA long into the future without tangibly harming lower income wage earners and retirees.
Wait till the DNC lets this guy loose on the campaign trail and starts pushing all the FDR programs which Bernie’s supporters need more than ever and Hillary’s supporters depend upon. There isn’t any argument more popular in this country right now nor any politician more popular to deliver it in the country.
The Republicans have Trump who isn’t backing anything that is popular except among bigots and bandits.
Obama suggested the country pay for expanding Social Security by asking the “wealthiest Americans to contribute a little bit more.”
“They can afford it,” he added. “I can afford it.”
Yeah, but it’s starting to look like Donald Trump can’t afford it.
Oooohhhh…I would say feel the burn, but that phrase has somehow been ruined for me now, not sure why…
While the surviving Republican Presidents either engage in Vulture Capitalism (H.W. and his board membership in “The Carlisle Group”) or spend time painting watercolors of themselves in the shower.
Yeah. Republicans and Democrats are “ALL ALIKE”.
Sure.
