Discussion: President Obama Honors Streisand, Spielberg, Others With Medal Of Freedom

Discussion for article #243175

I just watched the entire ceremony and as usual, the President was stellar in honoring the recipients. Everyone was worthy but the one standout in my mind was —Katherine G. Johnson, a NASA mathematician, whose calculations influenced every major space program, including the flight of the first American into space. More on Mrs, Johnson, and how amazingly impressive she is! Born in 1918 and is still beautiful and ageless.

Why do we know so little about these truly great black americans. Shame on us.

Speaking of famous Johnsons**, with this ceremony, ONE HALF of the Flip Circle has been closed.

Flip Wilson’s early big hit act was a portrayal of Queen Isabella only being sold on Cristobel Colombo’s famous first voyage of discovery west from Iberia across the Atlantic, when she found out that he’d not only discover America, he’d “discover Ray Charles”.

> “And not just Ray Charles, no honey - Chris gonna find Willie Mays, too. It’s like a two-for-one deal!”.

(President Obama does at least have one more chance to close the other half of the Flip Circle.)

**Wilson identified Isabella as not just who financially backed Columbus (“She wrote him a Traveler’s cheque”) but also by her last name: “Isabella Johnson”.

Is this the Streisand of the “Streisand Effect” fame?
