If your not the person that wants to have a abortion STFU, as it’s none of your business!
That reminds me to send more money to the ACLU.
Of course they had to let her go - her baby would be an American citizen if born while she is detained here. That would cause all kinds of problems for them. Detentions are lasting way longer than 9 months.
Somehow this story has been linked to the dramatic firing of that HHS official late Friday. Would sure love to know the backstory.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t work like that. I doubt there’s a single politician that really gives a damn about abortion. But they want the votes of those that do. So they jump on the anti-abortion wagon to get them. Abortion has devolved into a religious issue which should preclude it from our politics. But our politics has devolved too so here we are. Sooner or later a progressive pol will stand up to the abortion issue as one that should not be handled by government. Change the discussion to whether it’s right or wrong for the government to impose the will of a few on us all from whether abortion itself is right or wrong.
I think we should start referring to these monsters as “Forced-Birth Advocates.” Propaganda and name-calling should not be the exclusive tactic of the wingnuts.
No it should not and they’ve managed to make it about “the babies” which is a crock of shit. It has really nothing to do with babies.
I agree - they are Forced-birth advocates - I think that’s just perfect.
What it is really about and always has been is a woman’s right to privacy in her own body. They are the ones who made it about mythical " dead babies" that have never existed.
That’s precisely the argument progressives and pretty much all Dems do make; they just need to develop the right’s message discipline and make it relentlessly, loudly, and confidently whenever the issue is raised. And yes, @epicurus and @tena, “forced-birth advocate” needs to be part of that message discipline; I’ve been calling them forced-birthers for some time now, and it does have an impact.

The Democrats do have the right message on choice. The forced-birth crusade just understood their landscape better and knew where to appeal to make the most impact. It all grew out of evanglical christianity and the people who make it a long con. They know how to sell their side. It was started by christian grifters and it has turned into such a career choice now that they don’t want Roe overturned - they’d be out of business instantly. That’s why it has been death by a thousand cuts - it suited their purposes and was more doable in the face of the constitutional protection women were supposed to have.

I don’t see what the big deal is…haven’t poor people been reclassified as enemy-combatants here is the USofA? She’s just in the process of creating more enemy combatants anyways. Everyone knows Jesus would have smite them down with fire and fury if he hadn’t committed suicide like he did.
I think I’m in love. ![]()
I have an issue with a federal agent enforcing departmental “policy” which is not in compliance with federal laws. They lose in court multiple times at taxpayer (as well as victim’s) expense, and they keep on grifting.
Yeah I agree.
