I thought “right wingers” and “mentally disturbed” were agreed upon as synonymous phrases? I struggle to think of a conservative I’ve met that was inhabiting the extreme of that ideology that wasn’t an odious human being. So odious there had to be multiple broken links in their DNA chains.

Don’t count on it. This is Multnomah County, Oregon, where the white Christian supremacists who occupied BLM land and threatened federal law enforcement were found innocent by a jury.
Most terrorists do call it Patriotism.

Yep, the original Oregon constitution banned black people from living in the state. Oregon didn’t finally ratify the 14th amendment to the US constitution till 1974.

I can’t be snarky about this. When I think about the people he killed I just feel empty inside. The same way I felt about the guy who killed the young Muslim couple on North Carolina. This is what the saying “Only the good die young” means. That he is still living and breathing and they aren’t is a tragedy.

Yes, because we never see any news coverage when a Muslim kills a Christian, right. Trump tweets almost instantly after such events, but can’t actually be bothered to “acknowledge” domestic Christian terrorism at all.
What we need to acknowledge is that religion is the source of more death and destruction than just about anything else in history and Christians are just as bad, if not worse, than the rest.
Christians have been killing people they don’t like for centuries. Ever heard of the Crusades? And Christian countries discriminate against women and gays. And in this country Christians think they’re being persecuted because our laws don’t let them discriminate against women and gays.

Well, that was a federal jury, which is drawn from a pool that is much wider than Multnomah County, and includes a wide swath of the very conservative areas outside of Multnomah County. I have a good friend who defended one of those guys and I can tell you that case was more a matter of prosecutorial malpractice than the make up of the jury. It was an aberration.
