Conway isn’t stupid, so it must be desperation, using this kind of unbelievably damaging and toxic sort of argument. How many women in this country, at all social levels, have been in abusive relationships? How many had to use all the strength they could muster to get out and build new lives for themselves? Saying this kind of thing is like using really aggressive chemo when there’s no other weapon and the case is terminal without it. Either that, or it’s incredible sheer stupidity up and down the line, in which you’ll say anything, no matter how damaging, because you can’t stop yourself. That’s certainly possible too.
