Pope Says Meeting [With] Sanders Was Nothing More Than 'Good Manners'

OK so the pope is not voting for Sanders. Got it.

Frank, clarifies.

The Pope was right: kindness and good manners. If only politicians believed such things!

So, basically, it sounds like Bernie knew the Pope’s schedule and staked out the lobby. If this POTUS thing doesn’t work out, Bernie could become a member of the paparazzi.

What is contemptuous is ambushing the Pope to use him as a political prop without his consent.

This was a Hail Mary, plain and simple. I’ll show myself out…

AJM, just stop. It was not an ambush. Jeffrey Sachs and Bishop Marcelo Sanchez Sorondo were there, so unless you´re implying that they were all in on it, it wasn´t an ¨ambush¨.

along with facial tics and expressions finger wagging arm waving eyes rolling improper chuckles , is the rudeness of insisting on entrapping the pope for political reasons. As a catholic I am horrified at sanders bad manners

Yeah, it worked out pretty well, I think

I don’t think so. But we’ll see on Tuesday. My over/under is 8 point Clinton win. I think could go as high as 14, low as 6.

Well, we´ll see. Polling shows her up by 12 pts. so I would have predicted a Sanders win, if it weren´t for those anti-democratic NY Dem primary rules.

It will be a double-digit win for Hillary, unless things change dramatically in the next two days.

Bernie is stronger in parts of upstate NY—the less populated and less liberal parts, oddly enough.

But Hillary is a well-known quantity in NY, and she’ll win handily.

Bishop Sorondo definitely was in on it read his defense on friday when the chairmen of the commission said Sanders did it for political purposes. The Chairman was bypassed by Sorondo Sachs is a no-brainer of course it was a disgraceful ambush shame on all involved.

Ironic that politicians seek absolution from a person in charge of an organization responsible for grave criminal actions against the most vulnerable.

Not saying it’s all his fault, but most definitely the church should be more forthcoming.

Seems the most diverse states are also anti-democratic according to Sanders supporters. It’s a closed primary- if you want to vote in it, register for the party.

As a Catholic, I know Francis and Sanders share similar views on wealth inequality, the environment, and global warming - and that Sanders was invited to the conference he attended due to his views on inequality, not to meet with the pope or any other reason.

I also think the Pope knows how to avoid a meeting he doesn’t want when he’s in Rome (if not when he’s in DC), and that he would have made the same ‘good manners’ accommodation for Clinton - due, like Sanders, to shared values. I suspect Francis probably would have found a way to not greet Cruz or Trump had they been there on their own. Of course, if both Republican and Democratic candidates were present, then the Pope would have found a way to greet all, or more likely, to be unavailable.
