Discussion: Pope: Global Warming 'Mostly' Man Made, Wants 'Courageous' Talks

Discussion for article #232072

That kind of talk isn’t going to make you many friends in the USA. Over here there hell bent on sucking the earth dry from the inside out right down to the last teaspoon of dirt they can get a drop of oil from.
Mother Nature alone will settle it someday.

I’m not sure how much influence the Pope has on Catholic’s day to day behavior or attitudes - back in the day when the Pope railed against birth control something like 90% of Catholic women used birth control in at least some point in their lives.

But, I’ll take it. It’s so great to have a Pope who is seems so intent on doing actual good in the world. I’m tempted to dig out my grandmother’s rosary and taking a spin or two just to wish him luck.

As an atheist, I strangely find myself really liking this guy. Time after time, he’s said the most reasonable and compassionate things. Not that I’m going to start believing in a sky-god, but it’s nice to see all those people who do look up towards the sky have a compassionate and decidedly human voice guiding their worship.

The USofA today is a God-less nation. Money trumps God every time.

In years (decades?) past, the Pope was considered infallible and whenever he spoke, it was considered the actual Word of God. Today, except for small parts of Italy and some Latin American countries, he’s totally irrelevant and ignored.
