Pope Francis has got it just about right. Fundamentalist Christians - Fundamentalist Muslims - Fundamentalist Hindus - Fundamentalist Republicans. We seem to be going to hell in a handbasket.
It would be interesting to know which Latin, Italian, or Spanish term was translated as “fundamentalism.” It’s great that the Pope uses the term “religious fundamentalism”, instead of “Islamic extremism.” Fanatics of any religion can, have, and do cause all sorts of barbaric debacles–there’s really no reason to single Muslims out.
Except that if god actually was rejected outright, we wouldn’t have as many of these kind of attacks about stupid bullshit.
