Discussion: Pope Francis: Congress Must Address Poverty And Climate Change

Discussion for article #240971

“I call for a courageous and responsible effort to redirect our steps,
and to avert the most serious effects of the environmental deterioration
caused by human activity. I am convinced that we can make a difference —
I’m sure,” he said, as numerous members of the audience in the House
stood to applaud the pope.

Well yes they did, but they were all Democrats. Saw that a lot in his speech.

YES, and bring back the Eisnhower (sp?) 90% tax. If they take the money out of the country, tax, big time their product. It’s that simple. they stole/over charged us, let’s get some of that back!

I wonder if any of those Congressmen who sat on their hands are going to at least think about what he said. Probably not. They only do what their billionaire funders tell them to do.

You are probably joking, but I am sure that line is going to float down my facebook page as my Tea Party relatives start sharing conservative memes.

Without a hint of irony, eh?

It’s hard to resist feeding that to them via the kKKomment boards (or other stuff I’ve predicted) to see if they take off running with it. That would be interfering with my prophesies lol

Does this mean the Catholic Church will no longer actively lobby to deprive third-world women of contraceptives and family planning choices? Changing this policy would be a great way to combat third-world overpopulation and poverty. What do you say, Your Holiness?

“And I have no doubt that the United States – and this Congress – have an important role to play. Now is the time for courageous actions and strategies, aimed at implementing a culture of care and an integrated approach to combating poverty, restoring dignity to the excluded, and at the same time protecting nature,” he said, citing themes he discussed in his encyclical."

This is the radical, socialist guy that they are frothing at the mouth about? Gee…I can’t wait until he starts ranting about installing a Marxist, totalitarian government here. With no guns!!

Meddlesome priest…I mean Pope.

That sound you hear isn’t popcorn… It’s republican heads exploding.

Well, if you lose all sense of academic distance and can’t resisting trolling you have my Holy Blessing to seed the conversation my Communist Pope Meets Muslim President headline (along with your Pope Alinsky thing). I can’t go to the Fox KKKomments page because it’d be too easy for me to buy a gun here in Georgia.
