Discussion: Pope Francis: Catholics Don't Have To Breed 'Like Rabbits'

Discussion for article #232219

The Catholic Church has finally come out of the 12th century and is firmly planted in the 18th century. Congratulations. Will the planet survive long enough for the Church to find a reality that is real?

Just a silly old man .

“Every people deserves to conserve its identity without being ideologically colonized,” Francis said.

Does no one see the irony in this?

So who is the keeper of the local culture? The male officials or the local women who seek out contraception precisely because they are not irresponsible and know how many children they can responsibly raise?

Prove it Pope-man! What you gonna do? Recall Saint Patrick?

Your Holiness, there are some men from the Quiverfull movement here to see you about your “rabbits” remark. They want to show you their nice shiny rifles.

“Aboard the Papal Plane”

Best. Byline. EVAR!

A bit, coming so soon after the canonization of the foremost ideological colonizer of Western North America.

“When imposed conditions come from imperial colonizers, they search to make people lose their own identity and make a sameness,” he said. “This is ideological colonization.”

Absolutely correct! If a country wants to execute people for being gay, who are we to object? If a country wants to execute people for having the “wrong” religion, who are we to object (see Latin America circa 1600 - 1700)? If a country wants to allow rape, who are we to object? If a country wants to execute anyone who objects to their government, who are we to object?

Interfering in the internal affairs of other countries just because they don’t begin to attain even basic levels of human decency is “ideological colonization.” We should do everything we can do support the most depraved behavior just so that we don’t “colonize ideologically.”
