It was a very moving moment and very exciting says this former catholic and present atheist. I cannot believe it myself that this moment was so exciting for me. I think the smile on the President’s face and the Pope’s smile and being so well-received was the clincher.
Yo Pope. Howyadooin?
He told reporters aboard the plane that some explanations of his writings may have given the impression that he’s “a little bit more left-leaning.” But he said such explanations are wrong, and he is only repeating church doctrine.
Pretty clever. It sounds like he’s apologizing for being “left leaning”, but is actually saying church doctrine is itself left leaning. Hope right wing heads don’t explode.
Much (though not all) of what Pope Francis says is the type of thing Jesus would say.
Christian conservatives hate that.
Excellent photo, the pope standing next to an actual Christian, not just someone who says they are but fails to act like one (looking at you GOP).
I wanted to know if this Pope spoke english and had ever been to the US before. I found out his english is limited and he had never been to the country previously. Too bad he can’t get out of the uniform and meet some real people. Most pols. and high ranking clerics do not represent the rest of us just folks.
The little Fiat in the motorcade…Too much! Like watching a Buñuel movie…
The best First Family ever warmly greets the best Pontiff ever–perfect!
Francis, the first Latin American pope, will be sending a powerful message on that front by delivering the vast majority of his speeches in his native Spanish.
So wanna bet on how many GOTPers will complain that since he’s in America, he should speak English?
You doing Bush impressions now, Ralph…?
