Discussion: Pompeo: Diplomats' 'Morale Is Good' Despite Lack Of Pay From Shutdown

Pompeo lies almost as much as his boss.

Pompeo’s rationale for everything he says strains credulity, to put it mildly. So, if I understand it, his wife’s expenses are being paid by the U.S. taxpayer while many in the State Dept. are furloughed and therefore not getting paid.

How many actual diplomats were surveyed?

squabbles in Washington

Really? Hundreds of thousands of theoretically employed Americans are wondering if they will be able to continue to feed their families and Pompeo calls it “squabbles”? How tone deaf can one get?

One. It’s AP after all.

None, but Pompeo and his master Donnie are both mind readers with degrees in “Political Telepathy” from the esteemed Trump University.

As the President has said many times, “people love not getting paid.” Especially if it makes for a successful tantrum negotiation.

“We’re doing our best to make sure it doesn’t impact our diplomacy,”
he said of the longest federal shutdown in U.S. history.

And sure is nice not to need to go through any screening and see those
TSA folks who aren’t getting paid …

unlike the rest of the public …

Pompeo also defended the presence of his wife on his Mideast tour.
“She is here on a working trip doing her best to do what you would
see a military leader’s spouse do
  — trying to help the State Department be better.”

Those sightseeing things just happen in the course of her service …
They can’t really be avoided —

Pompeo added: “I talked to two ambassadors and said they have to say their morale is good or their next posting is Moldova.”

I’m guessing that to be a diplomat in Trumpworld, you have to at least be a multi-millionaire, right?

Think of the grifting potential…

Mother has to keep an eye on her hubby. This comes directly from the vice-president. We would not want him to go astray while visiting all those erotic places.

Trump should know given the many thousands of people and businesses that he has stiffed.

Yes, and let us remember that Pompeo and the rest of his Cabinet cronies are still getting paid.

“It’s an important opportunity for me to get in front of 180-plus of my commanders in the field to look them in the eye and describe to them what it is we’re doing and how it is I expect them to do that.”

Translation: trump says Putin wants stuff done

Doesn’t the State Department have a special internal feedback channel…

one that could be used for the State Department staff to tell Pompeo, in whatever words, that he can go fuck himself?

(I think my tolerance for these people is completely shot… that news about traitortot being under investigation for being a potential Russian agent/asset the past nearly 2 years does not make me able to tolerate Pompeo’s face, let alone him opening his mouth)

I’m remembering the media and repug’s hysterical outrage when the newly elected President Clinton said his wife would be helping him in his job. That was the beginning of their unending war on Hillary.
